I was having the same problem with Windows Update and getting the error code 80200053. Microsoft can fix the problem for you - go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058#FixItForMeAlways site. I am running Windows Vista, and you must be using it with service pack 1 (SP1) or service pack 2 (SP2) for the fix to work. Can't understand why microsoft makes it so difficult to find solutions to problems. JohnRieh wrote: Windows Update error 80200053 11-Nov-07 I've seen this referenced a few times, but never solved. I get error 80200053 when trying to run update. I saw a post that suggested cleaning out the download c…

  2. Hi, When I was trying to install the 32 bit software on a Win2008 64-bit server. I am getting the version compatible error. Is there any procedure to install the 32 bit software on a 64-bit machine ? I read that the 32 bit run on 64 bit servers using WOW emulator. In order to install the software, do I need to check if a WOW emulator process needs to be running? Please help, I am bit new to this. Thanks, Deepak.

Since I am having a boot problem (XP SP2), probably due to virus, which I meanwhile have hopefully cleaned up, I would like to know what can I infer from the fact that even though boot goes on until logo screen and more for some seconds (and right afterwards laptop switches suddenly off), with boot log option enabled (F8....) I don't find any ntbtlog.txt file in windir, but it's impossible that it's not loading anything at all in all that time...what can I suppose to be corrupted...?? thank you for sharing your ideas...

When I do a backup using the Automate System Recovery Wizard, the backup saves all of the files on the external drive, but then fails when trying to write to the floppy drive. Any ideas? The floppy is FAT and the backup source and destination are NFTS. I do follow up and create the ASR files using the repair capability, but would like to not have to do that. Any help appreciated.

One of the major investments we?re making during the IE9 project is support for more web standards. Web developers all around the world consistently gave us feedback that they wanted to use the same pages with the same markup across browsers. By working closely with the W3C and its members on the newest web standards, we can make that dream a reality for web developers. 118 New Test Cases Submitted to the W3C Today, we released an updated version of the IE9 Platform Preview build. In conjunction with implementing support for several more web standards, we developed more test cases. These new test cases are available as usual on the IE Testing Center. We?re f…

As developers experiment and begin the transition from writing today?s websites to building HTML5 applications, they will test the limits of browsers. For example, the huge difference between hardware accelerated HTML5 video and plain HTML5 video support in a browser was clear in the demo we showed at MIX. Because some browsers run on many different operating systems, there can be a tendency to use a ?least common denominator? approach to implementing HTML5. By using more of the underlying operating system, and taking advantage of the power of the whole PC, IE9 enables developers to do more with HTML5. Running through Windows, instead of just on Windows, makes a b…

Hi All, We have a problem of Active Directory replication between 1 Domain Controller and 1 RODC on two distinct networks via Ipsec. The IPsec tunnel closes itself between 2 replications (3 hours) and the necessary time to setup the tunnel crashes the application the time necessary to set-up the tunnel is greater than the timeout replication. Consequently, there is no replication. Our workaround is to launch a ping to create the tunnel. Any idea how we could solve the problem definitely? Thanks in advance your help, Olivier

For the drivers, I can use NT_ASSERT, but what can I do in user mode? How can I make it stop on assertion and wait until I connect debugger?

I run two userid sessions at the same time so that I can have one userid run a long-running program and use the other for the rest of my work. How can I prevent XP from starting instances of Outlook, IE8 and Photoshop in both sessions simultaneously? In other words, if I start IE8 under userid A I find that it has also started under userid B.
