Hi, guys how are you doing? i am a new user and a little about me i am originally from Ethiopia but i live and work in KSA. and my job is network administrator. and actually, i am familiar with win sever 2003 and working on it. recently, my manager told me to up grade the server to win server 2008. however, i have to be familiar with it before proceeding directly to the deployment. some how, i installed the win server 2008 in my stand alone machine and becomes my first DC, joined to the network and am checking now. right now, i have started to manage AD DS but unlike win2k3, it is complicated for me with so many security. but i think i solved some problems using Group Pol…

Vista HP my wi fi used to run at 54mbps

I have a Dell 1545 laptop. the mini card is 802.11b/g it used to run at 54mbps which a 802.11g can run at. Now it only runs at b speed of 11mbps. Strange thing is my dialup ran at 2mbps , it also runs slow at 26kbs. The only thing I have done was to connect a bluetooth cell phone. I restored back before the phone was installed but it makes no difference. -- jljohn ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jljohn's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/211871.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1332368.htm http://forums.techarena.in

Hacking keystrokes left behind by IE
by Guest Lesman- 0 replies

I have a tech who said he got a password used on a mesh (wireless) network browser interface. To access the mesh admin page you must use a web interface. This is the techs answer on how he did it... *******************************************************8 Our tech needed the pw to install the replacement antenna/switch (last week) at the building. My tech, Mike said retrieving the pw from the DVR hard drive isn’t a flaw in XP. He said he would not be able to ‘hack’ this remotely. But this could be done with any operating system if you have physical control of the PC (DVR). Since he had administrator access directly…

Hi I'm using VISTA Home Premium and Office 2007 and I do not know in which forum my question belongs. I had an HD-crash and restored the disk from my backup. Some hours later i could go back to work but when I opend Word and later Excel 2007 I discoverd that the "Open recent document"-list under the "Office-button" was empty. When I checked the option under "Word settings/advanced/ show/ Number of recently opened documents" the number is 0 (zero) and the whole row is grayed out. There is an information saying "The Administrator has temporarily inaktivated the command by a GroupPolicy. Please contact the Administrator" or something lik…

Access: Recordset is not updatable
by Guest jroot- 0 replies

We have a database in Access 97 with multiple tables that uses the MDW security features so only a few people can modify the data. I recently created a switchboard in Access 2007 for the other users in our company to query one certain table and output a report (using Runtime) so nobody else is able to modify the data in the table except the few that use 97. There are no users that have multiple versions installed. Everyone that has 2007 Runtime does not have 97 installed and vice/versa. This seems to be working fine except for times when our 97 users cannot add a record to the main table in the database, it flashes “record set is not upd…
