run as aministrator
by Guest Druff- 0 replies

I have downloaded Office 2010 Beta successfully and am running on all profile accounts. I am trying to open a calendar from another computer. I can only open it when I am logged on as the administrator. It will not let me open the file from the generic profile. I have right clicked on the icon looking for the "run as" command and it is not there. There must be a Windows setting that needs to be changed. I tried to set the permission in the Windows XP "Secondary Logon Service" and the setup type is already set to "Automatic". I want to be able to run as administrator from my generic profile in order to open the file in the generic accou…

[SOLVED]

I found the solution a while ago, but it seems I forgot to post it. I'm posting it now for future people. I have 3 hard drives: An internal one with Windows and Ubuntu both installed, Windows on NTFS and Ubuntu on EXT4. And I have two externals over eSATA, one NTFS, the other EXT3. I have no EXT file system driver installed in Windows, thus neither my EXT3 nor my EXT4 partitions have drive letters. And yet, if I turn off my computer, unplug my external EXT3, and boot back into Windows, the backup works fine. Of course, I can not unplug my EXT4 partition, as it's on the same drive as my Windows install, but that doesn't seem to matter. I have no idea w…

When we started planning IE9, we recognized the need for a better feedback loop with developers. The developer community was clear that they wanted pre-release builds of the browser platform in a consistent rhythm, with a good feedback mechanism. Seven weeks ago at the MIX Conference, we released the first IE9 Platform Preview. We committed to updating the Preview approximately every eight weeks. Today, we’re releasing the second Platform Preview of Internet Explorer 9, available now at www.IETestDrive.com. Today’s release builds on the first Platform Preview, delivering improvements to IE9’s performance, support for standards, and hardware accelerati…

Windows XP Pro as a file/media server
by Guest TMA- 0 replies
I have a few questions about setting up XP Pro to be a file/media server: 1) Is there a way to password protect all my shared items (ie. printer, partitions and folders) so others in the home network will have to type a password in order to access the items? I managed to share a folder in XP, but then Win7 just opened it and never asked for a password. 2) If the above answer is yes, then is there a way to make that password permanent in each pc? 3) Is it possible to share an old usb scanner from HP (Scanjet 2400), also password protected, without the use of paid software? 4) I have a ENLTV-FM2 TV Tuner card installed and working …

eSata hot-plug but not hot-swap, safely remove
by Guest Mike De Petris- 0 replies

I have AHCI enabled on an Asrock 890GX Extreme3 but can't see Safely Remove Hardware icon. Disks connected on eSata supporting AHCI and NCQ are recognized but I can't find a safe way to disconnect them, I can just go into diskmgmt.msc and put them "offline", or shutdown. Driver is "amd ahci compatible raid controller", and AND RAIDxpress correctly notifies plug and unplug, but I can't set external drives as removable. I also tried the other compatible drivers for the controller with same result: - AMD sata controller - standard AHCI 1.0 controller No way?

The WebKit Lie and the Future of Web Standards
by Guest BSchwarz- 0 replies

The supposed compatibility of various WebKit-based browsers is an illusion, and each renders web pages differently. But this speaks to a bigger issue: It's time for a new way to measure web standards, and settling on a single commodity rendering engine isn't the answer. Read the Full Story

Halo 2 quits at Gravemind
by Guest Wolf Lahti- 0 replies

I am able to play fine up to the point where Sarge and the Commander are captured by the Covenant Brutes. Before the next scenario starts, which I'm pretty sure is titled Gravemind, I get a message to insert the Halo 2 disc - which is already in the drive - and I get booted out to the main menu. I sometimes get the error message, "The procedure entry point CreateProcessWithTokenW could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll." There are two instances of ADVAPI32.dll in my system: one in WINDOWS\system32 and one in WINDOWS\SoftwareDistributionDownload\...
