Thank you SO MUCH ninestories! I've been annoyed by my laptop's Windows Photo Gallery for quite some time. All of a sudden one day it stopped going directly to a view of the picture when I clicked on thumbnails in my Pictures folder and started showing 6 gazillion pictures at a time. Now I've followed your directions and gotten my computer back to the way it was before. Dear Anando, Hello. If I may take this thread off in a slightly different direction... What actions (not including specifically de-selecting it in the Sounds and Audio Devices list) would cause "Start Navigation" to no longer have a sound like "Windows XP Start.wav" attached to it, thus making the clicks go quiet? This "sudden quietness" has been happening a few times recently for me, even though I reinstalled WindowsXP SP2 last weekend, and even installed SP3 on top of that. I hope that you'll see this, and will please respond soon. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Bram Weiser "Anando [MS-MVP]" wrote: &g…

A few weeks ago, we talked about the performance characteristics of our Flickr Explorer sample. We showed how hardware acceleration benefits real world scenarios such as browsing photos, and how easily web developers can build these types of applications. Recently, we released a new set of demos alongside the third IE9 Platform Preview. Today we&rsquore going to discuss the Amazon Shelf concept application (also see the companion Channel 9 video). Much like Flickr Explorer, Amazon Shelf is written using standard HTML, CSS and Javascript. Amazon Shelf also incorporates a key new HTML5 feature &ndash the canvas element. Canvas is an incredibly powerfu…
