Online privacy and tracking have been in several news articles and public hearings lately. The recent attention has been on how visiting one site shares information with many sites, and how those sites can then share the information and effectively &lsquotrack&rsquo your activity on the web. The articles certainly show the complexity of the topic. This blog post offers some context on online safety and privacy and specific information about InPrivate Filtering, a feature in IE8 designed to help protect users from some tracking scenarios, as well as several other features IE8 offers users to help protect their privacy online. Part of what makes online privac…

BUT THE FAKE ONE'S REAL NAME IS: BILL YANAIRE OF CALIFORNIA (WILLIAM YANAIRE) WHO DRIVES A TOYOTA PICKUPTRUCK. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU RESPOND TO SOME GARBAGE POSTING, THE GARBAGE COMES FROM BILL YANAIRE POSTING UNDER OTHERS NAMES: HE IS MOST OFTEN USING KEVIN JOHN PANZKE, BILL GATES, BARAK OBAMA & OTHER CELEBRITIES. I just got an XBox 360 controller for the PC ("XBox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit") and the driver from http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=Gaming&type=Gaming&name=JR9-00001&os=XP_SP2&lang=en but it's still not showing in the Game Controllers control panel, nor being recognized by my games. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers with no luck. I press the "X" button and the ring flashes green: Three fast, then 12 slow. Ports are OK, no other USB devices connected. Anything else to try, and are the flashes an error code?

Back to the original question...... If you are developing your own program, (you probably are if you're concerned with grammar files), then yes you can use Speech Recognition without enabling the Windows Commands: Heya Mike, Not sure if you'll still be interested, but there is a solution to your question. If you've moved on, it'll still be relevant to the rest of us, so I'll post away.... There's two ways to instance a speech recogniser using SAPI. The most common, and the simplest is through simply using the shared recogniser: hr = pRecognizerEngine.CoCreateInstance( CLSID_SpSharedRecognizer ) The more comp…

Frequently, my Taskbar ceases to hide. I think it might have something to do with open apps needing attention but I can't prove this and I'm not even sure it's true. I am using Windows 7 now - BUT I have had this same problem with Vista, XP Pro and OS's before that. It's only now that I'm searching for a fix (guess I was very lazy - sorry!!!). Can anyone help me? The only thing I've been able to find is to close Explorer.exe then retart it. That 'seems' to work - but it is a workaround, not a fix - and it happens often enough that it has become a huge annoyance.

Just FYI. You are delusional. The poster wasn't claiming to be Stan Starinsky. If you look real close if you have the ability, you will see that the post was generated by a MRS. Stan Starinski. Clearly not Stan Starinski the group retard and wannabe EE. I think if you print this out, take it to someone who can help you with that concept. It is allowed to have names different or the same. Sometimes names are similar but different. I know that is foreign to you but it's true. No wonder you can't get employment! Just FYI. The latest Platform Preview Build includes two great interoperable features for working with the DOM &ndash DOM Traversal and Element Traversal. These features provide web developers with simple, flexible, and fast ways of traversing through a document using the same markup across browsers. These features come in the form of flat enumeration, simplifying the DOM tree to an iterative list, and filtering which enables you to tailor the set of nodes you traverse. These features work with the same markup across browsers &ndash you can try out any of the code here in the IE9 platform preview and other browsers. Without these features, finding an element of inte…

  24. I've gotten a lot of email about the recently released Window 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Beta, which is interesting because this update doesn't add a single meaningful new end user feature to Microsoft's popular new Windows version. Due in Q1 2011, Windows 7 SP1 is essentially just an update rollup, one that doesn't change the system's user experience at all. Here's what the install process is like. View the full article
