Windows XP Home, SP3 ,,, installed HP scanner software, New Hardware Found popped up and installed drivers. The G4050 flatbed shows up in Device Manager as "Unknown" but when expanded shows as HP Scanjet G4050. The scanner is not listed in the Control Panel Scanners & Cameras folder. when I click on the "Add Imaging Device" link the wizard never appears. Have tried: 1. Made backups then removed 5 Keys associated with this wizard, Thought MAYBE windows would rebuild them = no joy. 2. Replaced the 2 files for this wizard with backup files: sti_ci.dll & wiashext.dll = no joy. 3. Ran sfc /scannow = no joy Nothing I do will get that wizar…

Hello, I have winXP Pro SP3 with one single user defined, which is an administrator, without password. Until the last automatic windows update (on 04/08/2010) the Welcome screen always appeared, but the logon happened automatically, as expected when one single user is defined without a password. Now, instead of the Welcome screen, the regular logon box appears, on a black background, and it accepts the empty password and then, after some time, displays the desktop. Both using the welcome screen and Fast user switching are enabled. I found a Microsoft hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817164/en-us that is supposed to solve this…

IE9 started from the premise that the modern web will deliver HTML5 experiences that feel more like native applications than sites. Building on hardware-accelerated SVG, canvas, video, audio, and text, developers will use the power of the whole PC to achieve great performance. On the modern web, developers will use the same markup across different HTML5 browsers. With IE9, we have worked much more closely with the developer community. Developers have had an earlier (and more frequently updated) look at the platform. With that early engagement, developer feedback has had a bigger impact than before. People have downloaded IE9 Platform Previews over 2.5 million time…
