An easy fix: simultaneously hit your FN & F9 keys and the Keypad icon will drop down from the top of your screen. It will now give you the option to ENABLE/DISABLE the touchpad. Try the tab key to navigate between the two options. Good luck. -- bowzer

XP start up is covered in pretty patterns...
by Guest Welshdoll- 0 replies

When I started up my XP computer this morning, it came up with a message of apology about a problem with a download. Unfortunately it then got covered in pretty striped lines and other patterns so I can't read what to do about it. The 4th time I tried it got further but the cursor wasn't working. I think I have to go back into safe mode or revert to say, yesterday. How can I do this when I can't see anything clearly on screen? After a while it switches itself off. This computer I'm writing this on is Vista and is fine.

Automating XP and IE8 Installation
by Guest Thomas M.- 0 replies

I have used nLite and IEAK8 to create an XP Pro installation CD that includes SP3 and all recent updates, and automatically installs IE8 with a number of settings configured. I have tested the CD and found that it works, but that there are a number of things that did not get setup correctly. I am thinking that some of these may require registry settings. I would like to have the following settings automatically configured: 1) Enable the Quick Launch and Desktop toolbars 2) Define network connections (nLite would seem to allow this, but it didn't work for some reason) 3) Include an activation key for XP so that the OS does not need to b…
