Man, this did it for me... my XP search would hang on "Searching Images," and when I removed the .tib files the search now completes beautifully. clean installation of win xp prof
by Guest Daave- 0 replies

I don't know what you mean by "cpu is running on Safe Mode." If you are running Windows in Safe Mode, that means you have booted (incorrectly) off the hard drive. (F8 is only used if you are booting off a Windows installation on your hard drive and you wish to get the menu that has options such as Safe Mode and Last Known Good COnfiguration.) You would need to enter the BIOS and configure it so the boot order changes -- you would need to boot off the CD. Could you please clarify this part: "and ask to change the setting in the bios which I just click Lad defaults" If your original message is accurate, this is a hardware problem. A…

Multi Colored Horizontal and Vertical Lines On Monitor Upon Boot
by Guest Uphill41- 0 replies

Had a similar problem with an Acer Aspire 7520G laptop and found a solution. For reading the solution only, just skip the comprehensive text explaining the symptoms observed and the consideration and troubleshooting done, and go directly to the end of this text. You may find some clues in the text here, though. Symptom: Multicoloured vertical lines started appearing and made the computer stall, and the fan-area was extremely hot. Probably over-heating I thought ! After cooling down 10min the laptop could boot again, but stalled again after some time - again with multicoloured vertical lines and a very hot fan area. After a few days the comp…

I had the same problem with a clients computer. I relooked the scan logs from the machine I did the external scan on. The file c:\windows\system32\drivers\ftdisk.sys had been infected and was therefore removed. I replaced the file from a known clean machine and the computer booted fine. -- dlc41 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dlc41's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/231671.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/867056.htm http://forums.techarena.in

IE Test Center updates

It&rsquos great to see that the web community and browser vendors are getting value out of the test cases on the IE Testing Center. People are discussing these in blog posts, email, and the W3C mailing lists, which is excellent. We want to make sure these tests are valuable and conform to the various specifications they test. We received some great feedback over the last few weeks on a number of the test cases we posted on May 5th. I want to thank everyone who provided actionable feedback on the particular test cases. As a result, we updated 15 test cases on the IE Testing Center, submitted those updates to the W3C, and updated the results tables for the same s…
