LIFE IS SHORT - GET USB3.0!
by Guest Stan Starinski- 0 replies
There're many now at Amazon.com The way todo it properly in a laptop is ExpressCard USB3.0 adapter typ. costs $30-50. I prefer unusual brands like "Patriot". Interesting that several brands I was recommending years ago have become mainstream, despite beign at first too "esoteric". There was time when Corsair memory was not run-of-the-mill, but now many people brag about it and it's common, but high-priced - for a reason. Anyways, here's why this msg is posted: I predict the quick DEATH of eSATA (upon arrivale of USB3) Get USB3.0 Harddisk enclosoure + USB3.0 Controller (or ExpressCard if yours is for a laptop) next time when you br…

Where is 'Windows7" Newsgroup? This question is being asked here (on microsoft.public.windows.vista.general): methodically, weekly (if not more often), so it became a "sticky note" everyone is tired of answering. Some of us feel that the question is repeated by people too lazy to Google or learn for themselves. Let's answer this question once & for ALL, only problem I can't make this Article a "sticky note" also (unlike the question - ironically), let's hope these people can SEARCH & LOCATE my answer, here it goes: ************************ Two possible Newsgroups (Usenet): *) alt.windows7.general ---> is growing in populari…

Event ID 51....
by Guest Newman- 0 replies

For months my computer system has been having problems, and throwing all kinds of errors. In particular the dreaded "Event ID: 51", combinded with errors and warnings about failures "during a paging operation". HOGWASH!!!!! I finally got fed up with it and dug in for the long haul. I took my drive to work and mirrored it onto a known good drive. Installed the alternate drive in my system, and all was well... for about a month, then right back to the same old crap. This time a purchased a new drive and mirrored again, and did diagnostics on all the drives. All say OK. I put the NEW drive in, and right away - paging oper…

PowerPoint security update KB982158
by Guest retread- 0 replies

Nevermind... just had a senior moment. I remember now.... I deselected AutoUpdate, shut down, restarted and then manually installed the update, then reset Autoupdate to ON. Seems to have solved the problem.... at least Autoupdate doesn't keep wanting to install it endlessly. I sure wish Microsoft Update would fix this bug. -- retread: Just another senior getting re-capped "retread" wrote: > After the passle of updates from Microsoft the other day, there remains one > that will not install. Error OX643 for KB979909
by Guest CWBridge- 0 replies

Re: Error message OX643 for KB979909 After reading all the posts about this download and trying unsuccessfully to understand most of it, I went directly to Microsoft.com Download Center, clicked on New Downloads, typed in the "search" box at top KB979909 and when the download popped up, clicked it. That took me to the page where, about halfway down the page, there are three files listed with the attached "download" box. I clicked on the x86.exe box that I needed and it downloaded without a problem.
