Need Help With Active Directory And Dns
by Guest Gloppy- 0 replies
- 1.7k views
Hey guys, I just setup server 2008 on a desktop I just bought and I am having trouble setting up active directory/dns. I had done this before on a virtual machine somewhere like a year ago, but now when I tried to re-create that everything failed. It says the AD DS is installed as well as the DNS server, but I cannot get any windows machines to join the domain. It keeps giving me errors saying things like the domain controller cannot be contacted. Any help would be appreciated as I have spent many hours trying to fix this, haha. In any case, the searching I've done has led me to run a dcdiag /v, so I don't know what all information you guys need to help me fix it, but her…

No specific rights for user who is member of admin group
by Guest Wong Tuck Wah- 0 replies
Dear all, I have recently install the Windows Server 2008 R2 on a standalone server, created a new user and make him as a member of Administrators group. When I login using this new user account and wanted to access certain tools in the Control Panel, most of the options in such tools are grey out. But when I login as the built-in admin acct, everything is fine. This shows that even though the new user is member of Admin group, it doesn't inherited the entire rights and privileges from the Admin group. This problem does not happen on Windows Server 2008. Does anyone has any idea? Pls advice. Thanks and best regards

xp device not recognized for ext. usb hdd after virus removal
by Guest Mad Scientist Jr- 0 replies

I'm running xp pro sp 3 and was surfing the web using firefox 3.6.6 & my antivirus (avira free) said it found a virus, and I had it remove it. A couple minutes later it found something again and I had it remove the threat. I ran microsoft security essentials and it started to scan my pc but I cancelled the scan and instead decided to reboot into safe mode and run malware bytes antimalware and did a full scan of my c: drive and it found and removed 4 threats. While still in safe mode, XP then detected a USB device as though I had just plugged one in (which I did not) - some kind of indexing service (I didn't write down the name). I…

OWN PERSONAL GoDaddy registered him, so what?
by Guest Stan Starinski- 0 replies
GoDaddy.com is the world's largest Registrar (has been for a long time & still is today, but things change in this world), so Kevin being parked at GoDaddy's is is not surprising Another competitor is Register.com but it's just not as good as GoDaddy when you STUDY the cost & performance in a LONG RUN. I myself have registered 12 domains - all thru Godaddy.com, Onlinefilefolder & photoalbums - all of which aare FREE with domain purchase, and domain costs less than GoDaddy's competition. So don't be surprising - Kevin made a right choice, despite being injured in the head in a warzone. Just FYI.
