Windows IT Pro Microsoft corporate vice president unleashed a few tweets on Twitter in the wake of Apple's WWDC 2011 keynote address, accurately flagging the features in the upcoming release of iOS that directly copy features already available in (or in some cases, announced for) Windows Phone. The comments set of an odd firestorm, given that his charge is completely accurate. ... Source: Win Super Site

Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows This year's WWDC focused on three core platforms: Mac OS X, iOS, and iCloud. Microsoft uses the phrase "three screens and the cloud," but this strategy sound bite could equally apply to Apple, whose three screens include Mac/iPad (PC), iPhone (phone), and Apple TV (television). Here's what happened at the show, and how it impacts Apple's competitors, including Microsoft. ... Source: Win Super Site

Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows Microsoft's once-dubious strategy for competing with the iPad is suddenly revealed to be far more comprehensive than previously believed. In fact, Microsoft is doing nothing short of revolutionizing all of its major end user products--phone, PC, Xbox--and doing so with a single user experience that works equally well on all of them. ... Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows At this year's E3, Microsoft is coming from a position of strength, with fairly dominant console sales for the past year. So this year's show was all about software, much of it for the Kinect. And in that sense, Microsoft and its partners really delivered. Here are some of the more notable games (and other software) they introduced at the show. ... Source: Win Super Site

Windows IT Pro Microsoft opened the E3 video game conference with a rollicking keynote address that was heavy on the bombast but light on meaningful announcements. But that doesn't mean the software giant doesn't intend to build on the lead its established in this fifth year of the Xbox 360's life cycle: It showed off a ton of interesting new games, including many that take advantage of the popular Kinect motion sensor add-on. ... Defaced? More Like Improved Immeasurably
by Guest BSchwarz- 0 replies

Some enterprising pranksters walked up to an Apple Store in Hamburg, Germany during its construction and put a giant Windows logo right out front, in broad daylight. Apple partisan Philip Elmer-DeWitt claims the store was “defaced.” More like “improved.” And it’s exactly the type of thing Elmer-DeWitt would cheer if it was the other way around. So I get to call BS on this and cheer myself. Source: Win Super Site

I'm in the process of learning the Application Server role on Server 2008 but the definition I'm coming across do not have me in a state of understanding. The following is the definition that I have most commonly come across: "Application pools consist of one or more URLs that are served by a worker process or a set of worker processes. They use process boundaries to separate applications." Ok, so its one or more URLs, but "served by a worker process or a set of worker processes"? What do they mean by worker processes? Can anyone give me a better explanation of Application Pools and an example please? Thanks.
