Unmountable Boot Volume-possible solution for Dell Inspiron 6400 XP sp3 with Dell Media Direct...
by Guest giorgio777- 0 replies
A solution that worked for my Dell Inspiron 6400 XP professional SP 3. I discovered (by pure inspiration !!!) that when pressing the Dell Media Direct button (instead of pressing the "power" button !!) I could boot and actually see all the folders of my laptop [those containing media files (photos, videos) I could even play them]. After browsing the folders containing media files (photos, movies) I clicked "exit" and my laptop powered off. After that I pressed the "power" button and my laptop booted normally. I am not sure but it may be that the BSOD Unmountable Boot Volume error appeared after I installed the Slim Cleaner application. After I was able to boot aga…

by Guest JZavala- 0 replies

I am running Win7, Office 2010 fully installed and have recently upgraded to IE9. We have an InfoPath form (not browser-enabled, due to manged code issues) that sends an email with an embedded URL of the a submitted form to the user for confirmation via an SP workflow process. When the link is clicked from within the "confirmation" email on a Win7, Office 2010, IE8 client the InfoPath form opens from the desktop client, which is expected behavior. In Win7, Office 2010, IE9 an error displays for the user, "There has been an error while loading the form." and when you click on the error details, you get, "This form template is not currently browser-enabled... Windows System Image Manager - XML Alerts
by Guest TT-ICCSD- 0 replies
I copied the entire contents of the Windows 7 installation disc to my hard drive and then began building a Sysprep answer file via the WSIM. I opened the catalog file located in the OS folder on the hard drive and built the answer file. Now, every time I open that answer file in WSIM I get two XML alerts: 1. Cannot find the file D:\work\Enterprise\install.wim. 2. The catalog file associated with the Windows image Windows 7 ENTERPRISE(Catalog) is out of date. I didn't remove anything from the OS folder on the hard drive so WSIM should be able to find them. I don't understand why these alerts are popping up. I also don't know where WSIM is coming up with the path for t…

Are my corporate systems\software compatiable with Windows 7?
by Guest AlexanderDelarge- 0 replies
We are in the process of upgrading to Windows 7. We plan of using a hybrid approach where we upgrade systems that are compatible and phase out those which are not by buying new systems with Windows 7 installed. In short I would like to know if there is an easy way to look at all the networked systems (All of which are XP SP3) and report whether or not the hardware and software are compatible. Now I tried out Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit and Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. The compatibility toolkit only seemed to find windows 7 machines on our network. Either that or I just didn't see where it was reporting XP. The upgrade advisor seemed to report what I ne…

Hello all, Currently i am working with an install infrastructure where we boot into WinPe. Several tasks are done while in WinPe to configure the machine before actually booting into windows such as partitioning the disc and applying the Win7 wim file using imagex. Long story short, right after I have the installed OS on my C: drive. I need to install .net 4.0 using dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe while still in WinPe. anyone know of a way to do this? IE10 Consumer Preview Smoothing Fonts Without Any Color
by Guest Noel Carboni- 0 replies
Something's gone wrong with IE10's font smoothing logic: It's not using any color in the font smoothing process while rendering web pages. It's being done properly in Windows 8 CP in general, and even in the IE10 menus and chrome, just not in the rendered page. I've tried it with the IE10 "Use Software Rendering instead of GPU Rendering" setting in both positions, and I've tried it with all different settings of the ClearType Tuner. Under no conditions will IE10 use color precompensation in its font rendering. This worked properly in the IE10 in the Windows 8 Developer Preview. It looked quite good there, actually. Here is a magnified view, so you can see clearly: …

IE9 connectivity not working with the 32 bit browser.
by Guest James Toutges- 0 replies
The 64 bit IE9 browser works but the 32 bit browser on the same machine doesnt. Anyone have any ideas? I have verified DNS via DOS and can ping by name in DOS but my IE 9 32 bit browser cannot browse the internet or connect to windows update server. The 64 bit browser can browse the internet and connect to the windows update server. I have verified that no proxy setting are enabled (both in "internet Options" and in the registry. I believe it has to have something to do with a registry setting being wrong somehow. The reason I think this is because the 64bit browser is in a different path on the hard drive. Internet Explorer 9 64 bit is installed at "C:\Program Fil…
