how are we able to answer your post from the future? Just FYI. Maybe you teleported back from Rectuma and that is why you posted in the future after my post. Just FYI. My Vista screen saver will not start up.
by Guest elbornavatar- 0 replies

I don't run the vista side bar. I hate wasting desktop space to it. However there is something to that Analog clock. One time i found a icon of a analog clock, and not knowing what it was, it started both the sidebar and the clock. Discovering what it was, I just as quickly closed the sidebar. But now ever since then, my screen saver refuses to start! Rebooting, changing the time span at which how quickly the screen saver should start, has no effect! Even changing to a different screen saver has no effect. Now what? -- elbornavatar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ elbornavatar's Profil…

Backing Up Files

Shenan: Thanks for not only reading my inquiry about file back up but for reading it carefully enough to sense my fear of tackling something over my head. I can move around pretty well between folders and programs. I have used spreadsheets for years but before I retired we always had Data Processing personnel to recover lost data. I have set up the peripherals on my computer many times so I think I can handle an external drive. Thanks again for your interest.

Windows Live Wave 4: A guide for the perplexed
by Guest BSchwarz- 0 replies

While those who cover every twist and turn of Microsoft's Windows Live Wave 4 add-ons to Windows are in the know -- as are the small group of testers outside the company who've been granted access to beta versions -- the general user public is probably a little confused about what to expect. Here's an attempt to clarify. More...

Can't get folder setting to stick
by Guest Anthony Giorgianni- 0 replies

Hello All I'm hoping someone can help with this folder settings problem. When I click "Underline icons only when I point to them" in Tools/folder options and then hit Apply or OK, Windows won't change the setting. The folder icons and names remain underlined. If I reopen Tools/folder options, sure enough it's set back to "Underline icon tiles consistent with my browser." I've done this repeatedly. I've also tried switching first to Windows Classic folders, with the same result. Any idea why it won't change? Incidentally, I can change to "Double click to open item." Thanks for any suggestions. Outlook Crashes Everytime while Opening
by Guest Ross786- 0 replies

Ive Found a cure for this problem!! I found that by following a COMBINATION of : 1. removing the outcmd.dat as explained in this thread. 2. removing my kaspersky spam checking add-ons from outlook options 3. removing xobni software from outlook and my pc. By doing this, i found that the problem id had with outlook 2007 crashing upon startup has been resolved. Good luck with yours - hope this works for you. New Window adjustment for full screen...
by Guest vistadude- 0 replies

Well I hope this isn't a stupid question. For some reason I feel silly. When I would click on link from e-mail generally--which normally opens full screen window, it won't do it now. I must have hit something by accident to screw it up. What do I do to (in tools???) to get link to open to full screen/new window???? Its minimized now for some reason....opposed to maxinized. Well, at least I got it off my chest. Thank you. -- vistadude ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vistadude's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/144367.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista…

Can't empty recycle bin
by Guest juvado- 0 replies

Hi everyone, Had the same problem as you Norman, in my case the file was called Dc60. Tried everything John John said but wasn't working in safe mode for me as well, even with the cacls syntax. But then I tried it in regular windows mode and completely suprised it worked and deleted the Dc60 file, and the recycle bin icon changed to empty! So just start windows in normal mode, open the command prompt: Type cacls c:\recycler /t /e /g Administrators:f Type rd /s /q/ c:\recycler Then nothing really happens in the command prompt, you don't get any confirmation message, only thing is that the acces denied message is gone. …
