Salutations: I am having a strange problem with Vista. I installed a clean copy of Vista Home Premium, and I made sure that my system could handle it by using Vista Upgrade Advisor. Upon install, any time my system is doing a resource intensive task, like installing updates, installing new software, or burning a DVD, it simply shuts down. This did not happen with XP. My hardware is functioning fine. My power supply is new. My internal case temperature is steady at 82 F, and the processor temp is steady at 93 F. I'm having problems with Windows Vista on my laptop. Whenever I try to do a 'windows update' it just tells me that "Windows could not search for new updates. Error code 80004002." Hey I have a HP G62 and I recently tried to restore my Laptop to an earlier point of time (only the system) with a restore point, but everytime I do it It restarts the computer and when I log in it says "error 0x8000ffff Restore point could not be extracted from C:\" And I tried every single restore point and none of them works, I even downloaded all updates for Windows. hi all, i deleted on purpose the runas.exe files and folders and also the takeown.exe files and folders, but i didnt know that it would affect windows updates and now i cant update to windows 7 service pack 1,so i ran the fix readliness and it fixed one error, which i believe it would be the takeown.exe coz after installing the fix i noticed that the takeown.exe files were there again, but then the sp1 throws another error and i researched and i found out that that error occurs due to file corrupted ,so i ran the command sfc/ scannow and it found errors ..when i looked in the file log i right away found what was going on and i believe that its because the runas.exe file …

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, fully patched and kept up to date. I was away a few days and came home to find my machine on but with a bluescreen of death. I rebooted and Windows did some repair stuff and then it brought up the login screen. Issue is mouse and keyboard are unresponsive, so no ability to login to do anything further. I tried safe mode with networking same issue. I tried a PS2 keyboard, same issue. (Both keyboards work in bios and on any windows repair screens). Next I tried a plain old USB mouse, same issue. I tried checking bios for USB enabled (it was) and then rebooted, same issue. In normal and safe mode windows boots fine into login screen but then loses…

I do a clean install. Delete all the partitions, make a new one, format. Then "Copying files" takes approx 1 second. Then it does to "Expand" and gives me the error. Exact message: "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
