I need to create an msi file for IE8, I have downloaded and installed IE8 (English) onto a workstation running XP SP3, and have downloaded the IEAK8. When I run the IE customization wizard I get to the Language selection and there are no visible options in the Target Language Selection drop-down, so I can progress no further. The workstation is on a closed network and has no internet access. Any ideas for solving this would be appreciated. Continue reading...

Apparently it can't find one, and I'm not having any luck either. Does anyone have any idea's to what the problem may be? Continue reading...

Is there any way to find out which specific entry in the Site-To-Zone Assignment list is causing this error? This is a 2008 domain on a mix of Windows XP/7 clients with IE8: Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1085 .... Description: The Group Policy client-side extension Internet Explorer Zonemapping failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension. I have enabled user environment debug logging but all it says is "parameter is incorrect". I checked the list for missing dots, extra spaces, etc. but everything looks valid. Is there a way to log which exact URL in the list is causing thi…

We were recently receiving errors in the event logs that a computer had lost it's trust relationship with the domain. The computer did not seem to appear in Active Directory either. We removed the computer from the domain and renamed it which all looked fine except that in the logon to dropdownbox at log on still kept the old computername (even though in system properties the new name is displayed) - we rejoined to the domain anyway to see what happened - the computer joined with no errors and the computer account with new name was created. To ping the pc by name we need to use the old computername. When you browse for the computer from the server the computer is dis…

Did the update somehow enable these problems or is there a different explanation? Since November of 09, when built, almost no resets, freez, or problems. (like 2) Late November 2011 I updated Win XP Pro x64 sp2 extensivly, over 22 updates. Soon, YouTube video would freez the system. Programs would start with a pause first. It seemed to be doing something else. (besides indexing) Playing a movie the buffer would run out and the drive would catch up, and the movie continue. Two days ago it seemed to catch a virus, had todouble click everything, and printer spit out scrambled junk, and super slow. (AMD Phenom ii @3.4 GHz w/ 4Gb) Can't find antivirus software. This and a bi…

I am running Windows Vista on my Gateway laptop and recently have been having problems. My computer freezes within 10 - 30 minutes or so (time varies) after I log on. Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn't work... it just freezes. It doesn't matter if I log in and don't even touch the keyboard/mouse, or if I am browsing something via Firefox... it just freezes. Today, it even froze at the log in screen. I turned the comp on after it froze... left for 5-10 minutes... came back to the log in screen and the computer was frozen I tried a whole bunch of stuff. My virus protector Avast found some trojans but that didnt help.. I used another virus finder and it found something but i'm pret…

I'm simply baffled with what to do anymore. It all started about a month ago when I was installing Visual C# Express 2008. It included a SQL server portion of the install which required me to restart my computer. While doing this it attempted to install SP2. It took a long, long, long time to finally reboot. When it did it tried to finish installing SQL server, which also took well over an hour. Panicked, I tried to uninstall all of Visual C#, thinking it caused an issue. I forget now exactly what happened next, but I had to restart to finish uninstalling the SQL server install. It took forever. I tried to uninstall and reinstall SP2. After that, now my computer …

There used to be a link on the website for your Hotmail account settings, which was "Device Settings". It's no longer there. Access to it is needed for clearing out the OLD DEVICE NUMBERS, so that Marketplace will work on Windows Mobile phones. Assuming you don't want to put the link back on there for everyone, WHAT IS THE DIRECT URL TO THE "DEVICE SETTINGS" AREA of our Account Settings area, once I'm signed into Hotmail/:Live? Please list it here on the support/answers site, even if the website itself for the Account Settings are won't be changed to show it. I'm with Verizon, and I can't use Marketplace on my PHONE because of this WEBSITE/ACCESS problem. I've…

Hi, Earlier today, I received multiple notices telling me that my Windows 7 was not genuine and that I may be a victim of counterfeiting. I did a system restore to last week, hoping that it would fix things, but that messed up my computer even more. I then did another system restore to earlier today - before I got the pop ups. This seemed to do the trick. However, I have noticed when I go to the properties of 'Computer', under 'Windows Activation', it says 'Status not available' and 'Product ID: Not available'. I got this computer around 6 months ago, and I'm certain I activated Windows 7 when I first got the computer. I'm also certain that my Windows 7 is legitimate…
