Have over 40 workstations in my domain. As each of these Win7 x64 pc's get updated with SP1 and with IE9 I have users that can non longer print from Internet Explorer unless they specifically run IE as Administrator. I have installed each of these operating systems and they all have the same issue. I have a Dell Studio 1558 laptop and don't have this issue with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have an Intel 5 450M processor, 320 GB HDD, 6 GB memory. Right before it reboots to complete installation it shutdowns down instead of restarting. Then I turn the power on and installation completes successfully. Then I enter user name etc. and start windows. I click restart and the computer follows the usual motions and at the shutdown screen right when it normally would restart the trust circle freezes and in about 5-10 seconds the computer shuts down. I am supporting a number of machines running a client application that needs to connect to a FTP server, located at remote location. All these machines are running Windows XP SP3. Some of them have IE6 installed, others have IE7. Recently, some of them were upgraded to IE8. As a result, the application stopped working there. Upon investigation, that took me most of the weekend, I think I managed to track down the reason. It follows below. I am unable to open the Sound icon in my control panel. I have a Dell XPS computer ( 1 year old). Up until of late, I was unable to open ITunes but it strangely opened last night. I have run a check disk using the Windows 7 original installation disk without any luck. Strangely enough...after many weeks of the Sounbd Icon not opening..it was working for a few minutes last night but quickly failed when I started the computer this morning. I want to use the Blizzard Downloader to download a trial version of StarCraft II. I downloaded a 7 GB download for 4 days only to get to 99% and find that my download could not be authenticated. I was then given 3 things t do to get past the problem. Tried the first two and that didn't fix the problem. Lastly, I should manually set port forwarding to allow port 6112 tcp and UDP out and in. I have tried to do that, but don't know how. My PC security is being managed by Norton360. I have a Belkin wireless adapter and a Linksys wireless router attached to my Internet source.
