I was using IE 8 and started having issues with it giving me a message that says Internet Explorer has stopped working...searching for solution then would pop up with message that says it stopped working correctly and allows me to close program. I upgraded to IE 9 hoping that would fix the problem and it is still happening. It doesn't actually close anything except the window, it does it every time. Very annoying as I have to wait for it to finish and then click the close program button to be able to continue. I've had to download another browser but would rather use IE! Continue reading...

Hello...I'm currently trying to deploy Office 2010 through GPO's by using start up scripts, and the OCT utility as well as trying to activate through a proxy...specifically the microsoft isa 2004 proxy server. I've configured the OCT to apply the auto_activation property however when the installation finishes, there's an error in the event log, and the activation fails. The event id describes the following error: Event ID: 8200, Source: Office Software Protection Description: License acquisition failure details. hr=0x80072EFD I've also added the exception list that microsoft describes here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793438.aspx to the ISA,…

I have added the upgrade to OFFICE Professional for the PUBLISHER software. For some erroneous reason, this does not automatically change .PUB files to associate with PUBLSHER. I have gone through the CONTROL PANEL and try to change....but Publisher does not come up as a suggestion and I cannot find how to point to PUBLISHER via Browse. I found the SHORTCUT...now I get a ".PUB is not a valid WIN32 application" error. This should be real simple and should have a better path automatically after installing the product. HOW DO I POINT TO PUBLISHER for .PUB? Continue reading...

I have previoulsy built Windows 7 Pro images for 2 system & successfully captured & deployed the images using imagex. I sysprep the system & include an unattend file, before booting from a USB key to capture the image. I then boot off the same USB key to deply the image to a new hard drive & then reboot to start Windows loading. I am now working on a 3rd system, but I have a problem with this build, because following my final reboot, I receive an error. Everything looks OK & I have a message to say that 'Setup is preparing your computer for first use', but I then receive an msoobe.exe error saying 'The program can't start because COMCTL32.dll is mi…

Bit of an oddity with this one. Just starting to deploy office 2010 and seem to have a minor issue with the mailbox cleanup tool. On some machines, we get the usage graph on others we don't. Backend is an exchange 2007 server, and so far I can't spot any differences between the users. Any ideas where I can start to look? Continue reading...

I have my Windows 7 Custom WIM Created and I've deployed it to my machine. I see that it joins the Domain correctly to the OU I've specified but the login screen on the Windows 7 machine shows the local account and I can't log in with a Domain Account. I've tried setting the OOBE settings using just a domain account so I don't have to create a local account but still no dice. What am I missing? I even specified a GPO on that OU that enforces the default logon domain........... Continue reading...

Originally posted at Microsoft Answers, but was told this was too technical for their forum and I was directed here: A client netbook with Windows XP no longer connects to the internet. The client doesn't recall anything strange occurring just before she started noticing this. The strange thing is it can still connect to a wireless network. When I try to see the IP settings using IPCONFIG, I get the following message: "Windows IP Configuration An Internal error occured: The request is not supported. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help. Additional information: Unable to query host name." That lead me to check the services and found that…

Hello, I'm in the trenches trying to develop a Windows 7 image for work. This is what I've done so far: I installed Win 7 64-bit on a test computer and did some customizations ( added programs, etc..). I then ran sysprep from C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep... and the process completed just fine. Okay, so I decided to do further customization of the sysprep process by creating an unattend.xml file using WAIK... Ran Sysprep again - not bad results - but I now notice when I attempt to open any log files ( Pather folder ) or "open" the unattend.xml file I get the following error message: "Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml' Make sure you typed t…
