DOM Traversal
by Guest BSchwarz- 0 replies

The latest Platform Preview Build includes two great interoperable features for working with the DOM &ndash DOM Traversal and Element Traversal. These features provide web developers with simple, flexible, and fast ways of traversing through a document using the same markup across browsers. These features come in the form of flat enumeration, simplifying the DOM tree to an iterative list, and filtering which enables you to tailor the set of nodes you traverse. These features work with the same markup across browsers &ndash you can try out any of the code here in the IE9 platform preview and other browsers. Without these features, finding an element of inte…

One of the most pressing questions on investors’ and shareholders’ minds about Microsoft is how the company plans to respond to Apple’s iPad. I've gotten a lot of email about the recently released Window 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Beta, which is interesting because this update doesn't add a single meaningful new end user feature to Microsoft's popular new Windows version. Due in Q1 2011, Windows 7 SP1 is essentially just an update rollup, one that doesn't change the system's user experience at all. Here's what the install process is like. View the full article

Cisco VPN Client - Connection Error Reason 412
by Guest mattula- 0 replies
I just solved this 512 error. Turn your firewalls and virus scanners off for troubleshooting first! We're using a Microsoft CA server and certificate authentication for the client. It turns out that the latest Cisco client 5.0.x may have some kind of flaw when requesting the client side certificate. Our standard is to utilize a password in the OU field and to use the rest of the fields = example: CN or O for company name, organizational name etc. Well, it turns out if you use lots of punctuation, spaces and special characters in that request, when the cert is processed and given back to the end user, the cert will malfunction. Also, sin…

Why not a trackball, if you can find one? 2. In your place I would ask the client why he wants a laptop (small KB and screen) instead of a (cheaper) desktop. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)

Hi there. I have a vpn between two pc, one as server, the other as client. Router, as well as windows firewall of the server are configured to let the vpn work (port 1723 and GRE protocol). In fact, when the client calls the server, the vpn is well established and the client is well authenticated. Now, the point is, the client can't access the shared folders of the server. But if i disable the server windows firewall, then the client gets access to the shared folders perfectly. How come? What do i need to open/enable/disable in server windows firewall in orther to let vpn full working, but keeping firewall enabled? Thanks in advance. Pablo…
