Controller/Driver error and Event ID 11
by Guest Bill Clark- 0 replies

Running into an issue with BE11d and my server/bus adapter setup. The backup "runs" but then fails on verification with an I/O error. Upon further examination I see a System Event with the following: Source: Lsi_scsi, Event ID: 11, Desription: "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort1". From what I gather there is something wrong with the adapter/driver combination. The adapter is an HP SC11Xe Host Bus Adapter (HP# 412911-B21) that I purchased separately from the DL380-G5 server it resides in. The server came with the P400 Array that controls the internal drives. Running Windows 2003 Server with Sp2 and all updates. I have all …

Mount point to remote share
by Guest DY- 0 replies

We are experiencing high drive activity on a server that is currently configured with only RAID 1. The application causing the activity does not allow redirect to a remote share, so I am stuck. I wish to avoid migrating the application altogether. I have tried using a simple mapped drive, which did not work. I have also tried using the linkd.exe utility, which I believe works for local folders but not remote shares. Is there a way of creating a folder on this server that is mapped to a remote share with an attached drive array? Thanks!

Renaming workstation after WDS image?
by Guest Nutzer- 0 replies
All, Just finished setting up my WDS server to image XP workstations. I created a sysprep.inf unattended file, syspreped the machine and captured, then imaged the machine. Everything worked out fine, except to rename the machine to "mycompany-XXX". I set the properties in WDS to set the format of the renaming to the correct syntax "mycompany-%03#" but every time I image up a workstation, it would give me "mycompa-ANXB" or something like that. Is my sysprep.inf incorrect? I set the "ComputerName=*" Shouldn't WDS be doing this correctly? Also, I set in WDS to join the workstation to a certain folder object in AD but it still puts it in the "Computers" o…

Thanks Everyone, I'm at work right now but when I get home this evening I will try the suggestions (cleaning up, dumping AVG, using Avast etc) that you have all offered and see how it goes. Hello everyone, On Vista I want to start my program with the system account. When I do that I receive a message that the program that I have started will be shown on a "different desktop" But this is not what I want. Now I have fount a program that works this way I want. The program is separate in two programs. The first is start with administrator rights and starts the second program so the second run with system rights and, when you see the process list, runs under the wininit.exe -> services.exe -> svchost.exe. RE: Firewire SP KB885222 will not install

I'm trying to install the same patch but am encountering the same response: "set-up error, access denied, installation did not complete." I don't think the patch was ever installed, because my firewire audio device, a Mackie Satellite, still performs badly. Any new ideas on how to run this patch successfully? -- Tom F "xavier" wrote: > Thank you for your reply. I didn't find it either in add/remove programs. Time Zone Configuration Issues
by Guest Demerson- 0 replies

Hello, folks. I've been researching on a script to enable the daylight savings configuration and synchronize the system time of all machines in the domain with one of the DCs (PDC emulator). The .vbs script worked fine on all tests and we finally decided to apply it through a GPO to the domain. First we manually did all the servers and double checked whether the summer times were all correct. Then we applied the GPO. It did enable the daylight option on the stations and also updated the time. Thats when the problems begun. We are normally GMT -3. With daylight savings, we turn to GMT -2. Thing is, the machines can only get GMT -3 from the serv…

Forcing user to take ownership of home directorys.
by Guest TJ_2006- 0 replies
Hi, I am using windows server 2003 R2 release and i am using it to create logs of directory sizes, however the system uses the owner as a propose to directory name, the majority of directorys and contents are owned by the domain admin, this is due to the permission being reset over time as servers have been migrated/updated, i use xcacls to do this, basically as far as i can work out using xcacls, i can grant users the right's to take ownership but not actually force them to have ownership and my findings correct is there an alternative tool to achieve this if this is the case. Thanks in advance regards James

Intermittant Delayed Response to Mouse Clicks
by Guest Daddy- 0 replies
XP Home SP 2 About a week ago my computer started to respond slowly to mouse clicks. For example, I'll click on My Computer in the Start menu and it takes 4 or 5 seconds for My Computer to open. Or I'll click on the red 'X' to close a Word document and it might take 4 or 5 seconds before the document actually closes. To be extra annoying, this behavior doesn't happen every time, but it does happen much of the time. What might be causing this? My first thought/fear was malware, even though I'm neurotic about keeping my computer clean. Just to be sure I scanned my computer with several online scanners - I have Kaspersky 7 installed - and no signs of infection were det…

Not overblown at all. UAC is the guts to Security in Vista, Turning it off can and WILL cause you trouble at some point. I've already fixed a few machines with it disabled when the user was trying to install software and it would not/did not install properly.
