Motorola ES405B cannot connect to WMDC (Connects to AS4.5 on XP fine)
by Guest Michael.Barry-UK- 0 replies
We have Mototola ES400's that need to connect with our PC's. I'm not interested in any of the Outlook Sync features - just purely the file transfer abilities and also remote execution via RAPISTART. This works perfect on Windows XP via ActiveSync 4.5, however Windows 7 and Windows Mobile Device Center just does not work. The device shows up as RNDIS Device on Device Management. It even goes so far as showing 'Windows Mobile Device' in My Computer. But WMDC just won't recognise it. If i go attempt to open it via My Computer i just get a blank folder. Any Ideas? Is there a fix for this problem? Is it possible to run Active Sync on Windows 7 without emulating XP? …

by Guest Sarally- 0 replies

But if my computer (Toshiba netbook nb505) had Win7 Starter, then it's not a clean iinstall. I have a Win7 pro DVD from my employer (MS at home license, or whatever it is). I did through 'upgrade anytime' though, since i don't have an extern DVD drive. I didn't even know I'd have to activate, found out while on the road. Husband provided me with key, but failed - error oxc004f061. I have 7 days left. What happens then? any help beforehand? I contest that this is a clean install. it is an upgrade. Continue reading...

Windows 7 Ultimate question
by Guest Robinm1234552222222222222- 0 replies
- 131 views
Hello! I 'just' installed Windows 7 Ultimate that I got from my university. I typed in the product key, which shouldnt be in use.. For about 20 days it said "Activating Windows.. Please wait" .. "Activation failed- please type a different product key". I got other keys from my school but they didnt work either. After 20 days it suddenly said "Windows 7 Ult successfully activated" which is very odd, how could the key activate itself after so so many days? I know that I will have to reinstall Windows 7 aswell in a month cause I will get myself a SSD-unit after new year, so I really want this key to still work. Can I use the same key again, same computer but on a different…

Hi, We have a trouble in our company with workplaces with Windows 7 Pro x64 + Office 2010 Pro x64. The problem in short is following: It is not possible to paste formatted content (Outlook ocasionally crashes, mostly just does nothing), pasting as plain text is working though. What I have already tried: Clean install of the system, with all the latest updates (Windows and Office) - Didn't work Disabled all the AddIns in Outlook - Didn't work Running Outlook in Safe Mode - Working at the beginning. But after viewing a plain-text email, paste doesn't work anymore!!!!! So if I want to paste anything other than plain text, I need to restart Outlook in safe mode and avo…

Is there a GPO to control Overtype mode?
by Guest DonNels- 0 replies
We migrated from Office 2003 to Office 2010. As most of you probably know, "Use insert key to control overtype" is disabled by default in Word 2010. Our users aren't too happy about that. I realize its not terribly difficult to fix, but would save our helpdesk a lot to set this through GPO. However, I was rather surprised to find its not an option. Of all the controls that can be set through GPO I would have thought this one would certainly be there. Searched the net, and come up empty. Is there really not a GPO control for this or is it simply in an area I would not expect to find it? Continue reading...

extremely slow printing - WinXP SP3
by Guest vj000000- 0 replies
When printing multiple copies, my HP Officejet 6500A slows to a crawl. Printer preferences are set to spool documents and to start printing immediately. TaskMaster shows MsMpEng.exe sucking down 90+% of the cpu and spool getting 5% or less of the cpu. This always happens whenever I print. The only way that I can reduce the amount of cpu that MS Security Essentials suck up is by unchecking Monitor file and program activity on your computer under Real-time Protection. Changing the selection from Monitor all files to Monitor only outgoing files has no affect. Obviously, taking this action puts my computer at risk. What can I do to improve print speed?? I am running…
