My internet explorer closes every time I close a page I am viewing even when others are still open. I get an error message when I try to access "iTunes" that says it has been moved or changed and the shortcut doesn't work. I have run Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter. Nothing shows up and it continues to do this. When I checked Problems Reports and Solutions, there were many cases of Internet Explorer being closed and several problems with this file client_manifest.txt. I have now finally removed the various stages of "Mr Fixit" as it would not work. It stated that as it was not supported by my computer it could not work. Why didn't MSE detect and stop the My Security Shield Virus from infecting my laptop? I had MSE running with current updates. The virus infected my son's user account. I ran MSE full system scan in his user account, but after scanning halfway for 2 hours, my laptop would completely shut down. I ran MSE full scan in my own user (administrator) ID taking four hours, and it did not detect the virus at all. Need help removing Sirefef.N MSE gave me two real time messages of activity, and attempted to disinfect. Both returned the Error Code 0x80070ec saying a software command was preventing compleion. Ran a Full scan and MSE found multiple copies in C:\System Volume Information\_restore { ((then file name)) and a copy in Windows\System32\drivers\afd MSE took action of "Disinfect" but returned the same error code each time. After logging in to my own personal computer i try to do something/anything and it shuts itself down screen goes blank and turns itself off. I recently purchased a "refurbished" IBM/Leveno T61 laptop. It came with Windows XP Pro installed, but with no security software. On startup, I am warned that there is no virus checking software loaded, and I am directed to install MSE. I kept trying to do so, but was repeately informed that my computer lacked necessary updates. Every time I shut down there would be updated. I'd restart, try again to install MSE, and get the same failure. Eventually, the failure changed to "missing a necessary SP2 update". I have noticed no additional updates at shut down. I installed MDT2012 Beta 2 and imported OS's into the workbench (I have as well installed the WAIK SP1 supplement), but I get the welknown error when trying to update the deploymentshare: Changes have been made, boot image will be updated. Windows PE WIM C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\amd64\winpe.wim will be used. Unable to mount the WIM, so the update process cannot continue. I have WinXP Pro SP3. I've searched a lot in Google for solution but didn't found it. I have tried all the tricks I previously found on the internet such as: ensuring Http 1.1 Proxy Connections is checked in Internet Options-Advanced synching the system time then running IE and then press F1 to run Help and Support, .etc. I've also add few .exe's as exceptions to Windows Firewall (i'm using only system firewall): helpctr.exe, hscupd.exe, HelpHost.exe, helpsvc.exe but with no luck.
