We have a netgear router that has a history log of what is happening as far as possible intruders. There is a Microsot adapter teredo tunneling adapter that has an ip address and a port # and says incoming. I think that it is a user trying to get into our network to speak with one of us and my husband says that it is a defintion of a process and is not a user at all. This has stirred up the house to say the least , could you please set us straight? Thanks so much. SANDI Continue reading...

I recently rebooted my Windows 7 x64 system with the monitor turned off. When I turned it on, it came up at a much lower resolution. Since then, I have raised the resolution as high as it will go, but 1600x1200 is very blurry on my 1920x1200 monitor. Windows 7 insists my monitor is non-PNP which is ridiculous, it is a high end monitor, a Viewsonic VP2330wb. I have gone into Screen Resolution->Advanced and Windows 7 simply refuses to pick up the monitor. It insists it is a Generic non-PnP. I forced the nVidia drivers to allow non-supported resolutions, which allowed me to choose 1920x1200, which stuck after reboot. But this is a lie, the monitor is still running a…

I have MSE installed in my XP desktop and on my Vista laptop. When I turn on task manager in XP, a snapshot view shows MsMpEng at the top of the list for mem usage (49,000K), VM size ((90,000) I/O read bytes (1,400,000,000) I/O write bytes (256,000,000). If I start from boot without accessing the Internet, I/O read bytes and I/O write bytes keep increasing. I am not doing a scan. Program msseces is also running but not impacting performance. MpCmdRun also shows up occasionally. Windows Defender is not installed. When I turn on task manager in Vista, program msseces is the only one running and not impacting performance. Windows Defender is turned off. I saw on another…

Hi all Am currently looking into the different procedures for imaging Windows 7 machines when our organisation rolls it out. Currently we use Ghost and Ghostwalker to create (one for every different mobo) and deploy images using network boot disks. I have a few questions regarding the basic creation of a custom image. I initially created an answer file using Windows System Image Manager and created a WinPE 3.0 bootable USB. Our builds are required to have 50gb for OS on C:\ and then whatever is left for a Data drive (D:\) so this was setup in the answer file along with the 200mb system partition that is needed for Windows 7. In these the order is 1 for sy…
