I have tried starting the RPC Locator Service and disabling the AV software, but I continue to get this error very early in the update/install process. Any thoughts on what I should try next? BTW, this is happinging on all 6 of my VM's that are Server 2008 R2. I have a computer that is less than 6 months old and they won't even hook up with my PC and do the remote thing. Nothing. They think it is a virus. It doesn't act like any other virus I have had before. Now we don't get a restart disk which is so selfish. They wanted $165 to scan my PC and possible remove a rogue virus. If I have coverage that covers spills and accidents and etc. then surely they would just ck it. If it is a virus it was an accident cause I try as hard as possible not to get a virus. ACCIDENT! I have 2 accounts setup on my computer. One is administrator (Mom & Dad) and the other is set as std user (my son). I want to limit sites he visit without limiting access that my wife and I have. I see where we can add approved sites, but we don't want to have to enter a password every time we want to enter a site. Installation of WMP 11 causes my SiS AGP card to crash whenever WMP is used. The suggested solution on the error message was to update the SIS driver. Unfortunately SIS no longer exists. The options seem to be to either try to get an older version of WMP or try to buy a different graphics card and hope for the best. I am getting sound distortion, in the form of pops and clicks. It sounds as if the sound is cutting out for a microsecond or two, causing a jump or distortion. I have also been hearing a bit of static from time to time. this happens on the first play of a song during a computer session. If I play the song a second time, the distortion goes away. however, when I close the computer, and then reopen it, the playback issue returns, and the distortion is in different places than ever before. I am trying to install MS Office 2010 Professional SP1 from the MSDN .ISO. No matter which version of setup.exe I run, the one from the root, the \x64, or the \x86 version I get a request that it cant find the next needed file during the install. Meaning every file needs to be confirmed. I have the ISO mounted using PISMO File Mount and there doesnt seem to be an issue reading any of the files. Hi I have an Compaq Presario V2030US laptop that I bought in 2005 running Windows XP Professional. It has been heavily upgraded over the years. After working reliably untill last spring it started having disk problems after a hard shutdown. The system wanted to do a disk check every time it started up. It would say that there were 4 bad sectors. This X-mas I replaced the hard drive with a new one with similar specifications (having cloned the hard drive). The problem seemed to be gone temporarily! Greetings. I am setting up a computer lab with 30 Mac's running Bootcamp and Windows 7 x64 Professional. I am attempting to set them up to use KMS, and have used the ISO downloaded from the licensing service center to install Windows on the systems. I have deployed a virtual Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition server to serve as the KMS host. My understanding is that I need to do slmgr -ipk on the host as the first step. This does not work.
