Windows will not find second and third monitors on startup
by Guest Neb Thron- 0 replies
Ok, here's the issue I'm running into. I have three monitors and two video cards in a Dell Optiplex 990, running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise with 8 GB of RAM. The two video cards are a Radeon HD 6350 and and a Radeon 2600 PRO. The 6350 has a single 19" monitor connected via VGA and the 2600 has two 30" monitors connected via DVI. All of the necessary drivers are installed, and I can get all three monitors to display correctly after detecting them in the Catalyst Control Center. The issue is when either shut down or reboot, it forgets the settings. It will post to the two 30" screens, then once at the login screen, it defaults to the 19" display. I log into Windows, and it ca…

Internet Explorer 8 Will Not Uninstall On Server 2003
by Guest Frow- 0 replies
Having a rough time with a machine running Windows Server 2003 and removing Internet Explorer 8. When I go to Add/Remove programs it will only show up if "Show Updates" is checked and then does not have an Add/Remove option. Then if I try the alternative uninstall option of running the command it will fail because there isn't even an "ie" directory in the Windows folder. Just to see if it would work I attempted to install Internet Explorer 8 on top of itself to see if it would then allow me to remove it, a long shot but I've seen it work before. However as soon as I attempt to install it I get the message "To install a new version (one that still cannot be removed), …

IE 9 will not Save Passwords
by Guest Ken 429- 0 replies

I am running W7 Home Premium and IE9. For some reason IE has lost it ability to save Passwords. I have tried all the obvious stuff that is recommend on various forums - Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and/or Restore Advance Settings. I have also made sure the Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto Complete Settings for "User Names and Passwords" and "Ask Me Before Saving Passwords" are checked. Nothing helps! What else can I do to get this thing working. I have two other machines with the same set up and they work and act like they should. The machine I am having trouble with is a friend's who has let several "free" virus scanner downloads happen and I am pretty…

I have had windows 7 for about 4 months now and it ran perfectly. Recently though the computer froze and i had to perform a forced shutdown. Ever since then windows fails to boot at all. It goes to the login screen very slowly now, then after I type in my password the screen goes black for 10- 30 mins at a time then restarts. I have tried startup repair, it won't let me do system restore. I have tried everything i possibly could and i get the same results. Half the time it wont even make it to the log in screen. I have tried booting from an installation disk and get the same results. Is there any way to fix this? Continue reading...

Windows 7 won't boot up after update
by Guest Tommy C- 0 replies

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on a home built desktop with an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB, and an AMD processor. It only has a single 160g HD. Automatic updates are turned on, and it has AVAST IS for virus protection. Here's the problem. I came home from work the other day and the computer was frozen up, so I had to hit the reset button to reboot. When it came back up, it would get as far as the "starting windows" screen, then everything would go black and non responsive. I think the computer was in the process of updating when I left for work. I've tried to use the repair console, and it keeps telling me it cannot start the repair tool, and it will not go back t…

I created a limited user in Windows XP Pro SP3, and to lower memory usage (512mb ram) I disabled all services in msconfig except dns, dhcp, plug n play, audio and themes. When I try to go to any https site from limited account, it doesn't work, neither in IE or chrome, on admin account it's fine. It works on limited account when I choose "normal startup" in msconfig. Does someone know the services that are required for https to work on limited account? Continue reading...

Can Windows AIK installation spanning multiple disks?
by Guest cpangz- 0 replies

Hi all, I have have a rather large Windows 7 image that I capture with Windows AIK. Currently the ISO I produce is 7.5 Gb and with more additions onto the image I will go beyond capacity of dual layer DVDs. My product does not have a requirement for BluRay or USB so I cannot explorer this option. My idea is to split the swm's, burnt onto multiple DVDs, have them copied onto the target HDD and install from there. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Thanks for looking Carlo Continue reading...
