My display font had changed into something I unable to read. It's something like one of the fonts from Microsoft Office Excel that looks like symbols. It has question mark, cross and even windows icon. The problem started after I switched off my pc from a sudden froze. I tried to switch the language preference but it doesn't work. My hard drive failed and I replaced it with a new one, the Dell laptop didnot have the operating CD/DVDs when I received it. I have MS Office 2010, Win7, and use the Win7 firewall. When I go to the Help funtion while in MS-Office it cannot give me answers to those which need a link. It says that I need to check below that my computer is "online" My computer is "online" based on the icon but somehow the MS-Office does not recognize that and send me to sites in the Help list. Hi, i have an unsecured wireless network and i simply can not figure out how to put a password on it. The main computer is running windows xp sp3. we have a wireless connection already established and it works great but we need more security. I have recently remediated a Dell Dimension 9150 PC that was infected with a couple of adware viruses [Adware.Vundo variant + Adware.ISTBar] and an adware Trojan [Trojan.Agent/Gen-Malen]. The O/S running on the system is Windows XP-SP3 Home Edition. Microsoft Security Essentials Version 2.1.1116.0 has been installed and is up to date. I used several different antimalware scanners to identify, isolate and remove the malware [including Microsoft Malicious Software removal tool, SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and a custom ComboFix tool]. Friend sent me a link to what looked like a youtube video and it downloaded a "media codec" virus. Every time I run scan with Microsoft Security Essentials it detects Win32/fedcept.a and suggests I remove it. Every time I remove it at the end of the cleaning I get the security box that says: Security essentials couldn't apply the action you selected. Frequently when I go to links, all I get is a blank screen. There is no indication that an Add in needs to start. I just built a system and installed Windows 7 on it. I was running an ATI HD6750 on a HDMI output, it tested good on a widescreen TV. I hooked it up to the customers monitor and it would not detect any signal from VGA, Digital, or HDMI, I then tested the card on a second system and it also failed. (problem solved bad card). Are there any known issues IRT this situation, bugs etc.? Second and most important: how do I get the Windows 7 to utilize all 8 gigs of RAM installed on the system? I reloaded it with the CD but even now, every time I try to open any document created in any older version, the microsoft office starter takes over even if I save it as an older version. I have an odd issue, working for a small library, and we use a service out of Ohio that tracks requests and cross requests for lending between libraries. Part of the process involves a print out to attach to the item either coming in or being sent out, and on the print out is a barcode, for of course easy scanning and tracking. In IE 9 on Windows 7 on multiple printers, and in a PDF creator the barcode is rendered damaged and printed incorrectly. If Firefox is used on Windows 7, it prints fine. Hi, I have acquired (unfortunately) a HP DV7 with Windows 7 Home Edition (64-bit) and the bleeping OS keeps throwing errors during installation. Errors thrown: Not a valid Win32 application ... Really!? Why the *&%# does the OS think it is trying to install a win-32 app on a 64-bit OS in the first place? (even when I've downloaded a 64-bit .exe or .msi file. This is truly bizarre!!
