Ultimate 7 x64 installed but no partition, won't boot
by Guest TexasFrank- 0 replies
Hi guys, I am running two versions of Windows 7 x64, one on each of two seaparate hard drives. One is Ultimate and the other is Enterprise. Not thinking clearly I installed Enterprise Trial and while the program runs fine I should have devoted the time to Ultimate, but I had been having problems with an earlier defective installation of Ultimate x64 so I decided to try Enterprise. Studpid mistake. Ok, I installed Ultimate x64 and got all updates installed without any defects, and apparently ran fine. As said, I have that on one hard drive and Enterprise x64 on the second. I wanted to remove the Enterprise hard drive and install another hd with other programs an…

Exploit:JS/Blacole.BW found whenever I visit www.google.com.au in IE
by Guest smithy666- 0 replies
When I started IE (ver 9) this morning, every time I go to www.google.com.au Security Essentials puts up a warning "Exploit: JS/Blacole.BW" with severe rating. If I go into Firefix it doesn't give this warning. Looking at the definition on Microsoft's site, it seems this was updated on Feb 14, which coincides with when this problem started happening. I've rebooted the computer and it still does the same thing. I'm running Vista Does anyone else have this problem or any advice? Continue reading...

Hi so I have MSE installed on three of my computers, and ever since I updated to definition file 1.119.1972.0 (Feb. 14, 2012 1:37pm) as of about 5pm EST today (Feb 14, 2012), every time I go on www.google.ca on Internet Explorer 9, MSE has been coming up with the Exploit:JS/Blacole.BW warning (http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?name=Exploit%3aJS%2fBlacole.BW&threatid=2147654043_. looking a tool/utillity to customize the installation
by Guest Bundoo- 0 replies

I am looking a utility/tool like sysprep, which I can use with acronis/ghost imaging to customize application installation. which could give me an option to choose /select applications to install after installing Windows OS .For example I want to make a master image/package of win 7 including all applications like ....ms office, antivirus, DVD writer, photoshop etc. but when I will load on to a user's PC/laptop it should prompt me to choose from a list of available applications so that I could restrict the users to only licensed applications/software beside OS. This way I will be very productive and have a better control over application licenses . In other words instead …

Extracting Drivers ready for Import into WIM
by Guest rbdsolutions- 0 replies
I am working with WAIK to prepare a new Windows 7 image and have a few questions about preparing drivers. I am using "DriverBackup" to extract drivers from a test machine, but notice that the files also extracted do not include SourceDisksFiles as listed in INF. Without knowing the fundamentals about how drivers work and what they require etc. etc. I assume they atleast need all files listed in SourceDisksFiles, so copied from Driver Source and all seems to then work when adding drivers using DISM to image. I am sure there is a technique or a set of guidelines I should be following ...... advice? Continue reading...

How do I create a Windows XP Kiosk
by Guest BG_CSD- 0 replies
I am need of settnig up several hundred XP machines to run essentially as Kiosks allowing only one custom app. But some of them will need to exit the custom app using a super secret password and then drop into the regular XP shell. I have been using GPOs and have several items enabled but right now the main prob I have is that once I exit my program I get nothing but a blue screen. In my GPO, I added the auto logon information for the registry settings. I enforced custom user interface and gave it the path to my EXE. I removed the bottons from CTRL-Alt-Del so Cancel is the only option. Like most people, these computers will be unsupervis…

Network default user profile in Windows 7
by Guest JGraham- 0 replies

When following the instructions given here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973289 about turning a default user profile into a network default user profile, I have one question. Once this is complete, the FIRST time a user logs into a domain computer (and does not yet have a profile on that computer) these settings will apply... correct? This will not affect any users in the domain that are currently logged in and/or already have a profile on a domain computer. Thanks in advance! Continue reading...

Hello, For some reason, I can't connect to a particular Windows7 workstation remotely. I had no problem, however, in the past. In fact I had done it just the other day. I tried it from 2 different locations, one from a WIndowsXP and the other a Windows7 machine. I had a message that the Windows Firewall might be blocking it, but Remote Desktop is listed twice and allowed for domain connnections. Out network is running Small Business Server 2011. Thanks for any help. God Bless, Mark A. Sam The Bible promises there will be NO computers in Heaven: Revelation 21:4 Continue reading...

Easy transfer and application settings
by Guest Jeff Pitsch- 0 replies

First I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I wasn't sure if it should go here or the miscellaneous forum. I am doing a small migration from one Windows 7 SP1 Professional computer to another Windows 7 SP1 Professional computer. I am trying to use WET to do this but the problem is that I can't transfer program settings. If I click customize for the user account I want to transfer all I see are the main profile folders and Windows Settings. If click on advanced, all it shows are folder and files to select to transfer. How do you tell WET to transfer application settings as well as everything else? I feel like I"m missing something simple but for the life of me …

MSE and Windows 8
by Guest Sanmartin- 0 replies

It seems that Windows 8 will include a new version of Windows Defender, adding anti-virus functionality to this (by now) anti-spyware only program (for example, see this post: http://connect.microsoft.com/Connect/feedback/details/693886/windows-8-security). Does anyone have reliable insights about this rumor? Will MSE be continued, will it be continued for pre-Windows 8 versions only (XP, Vista, Windows 7)? Continue reading...

by Guest Brian Dougherty- 0 replies

Good Afternoon, We have a web based application that has .tif files uploaded to it from a fax server. When users try to click on the link to the .tif file, they receive a dialog box asking them to Open or Save. If you click Open, the window opens up blank, and if you hit save, you receive an error that reads: Internet Explorer cannot download openFaxFile from (website). Internet Explorer was not able to open the site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. Here are the particulars: The web based app is being hosted in Citrix Presentation Server as a published application. The Citrix server is Windows 2003 SP2 x64 w\ Int…

by Guest ieblog- 0 replies

The February 2012 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer is now available via Windows Update. This security update resolves 5 privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user visits a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited any of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the local user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less affected than users who operate with administrative user rights. This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer Windows Clie…
