Find out how easy it is to make videos in Microsoft Photos
by Guest Athima Chansanchai- 0 replies

When Alex Thomopoulos says “Get down, rise up,” she’s asking you what you’re passionate about and what makes you get up every day to pursue it. It’s a motto she reinforces as a Burton Girls Ambassador. The program encourages strength, independence and creativity for young women. Food is one thing that makes Thomopoulos get down and rise up. As a chef and entrepreneur, Thomopoulos can tell you how to make a gluten-free Meyer lemon cake, but she admits making videos that will take her business to the next level is not her forte. “I know how to cook, but I don’t understand technology at all,” she says. Fortunately, she gets help from Ashlie Little, a Microsoft pr…

Attack inception: Compromised supply chain within a supply chain poses new risks
by Guest Windows Defender ATP- 0 replies
A new software supply chain attack unearthed by Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (Windows Defender ATP) emerged as an unusual multi-tier case. Unknown attackers compromised the shared infrastructure in place between the vendor of a PDF editor application and one of its software vendor partners, making the apps legitimate installer the unsuspecting carrier of a malicious payload. The attack seemed like just another example of how cybercriminals can sneak in malware using everyday normal processes. The plot twist: The app vendors systems were unaffected. The compromise was traceable instead to a second software vendor that hosted additional packages used by …

Find out how gamers with disabilities helped design the new Xbox Adaptive Controller’s packaging
by Guest Athima Chansanchai- 0 replies

Packaging can be annoying for any consumer (see: wrap rage). But for people with disabilities, it often creates yet another challenge in a world riddled with them, an unnecessary obstacle that leads to frustration and a delay getting to the object inside. Recognizing that reality, Microsoft’s Packaging Design team faced a unique challenge in creating a box for the new Xbox Adaptive Controller, designed to accommodate gamers with limited mobility. The box for the device, which will be available for $99.99 in September through the Microsoft Store, needed to be as accessible as what was inside. It had to enable gamers with limited dexterity, who might be using just o…

by Guest toddvanderark- 0 replies

Do you know the Moomins? They’re a tight-knit, happy, collaborative cartoon family. I’d never heard of them until I was lucky enough to spend a few days at the Microsoft offices in Helsinki, Finland. The Moomin keychain in the photo was a gift from the Finnish CISO. As I did a little research into Moomin lore, I discovered a family of wonderful trolls who work with each other, their friends, and acquaintances to overcome adversity. In the first book, The Moomins and the Great Flood, the Moomins become separated. With the landscape flooded, they are unable to find their village, Moominpappa, until they befriend a stork who offers to help them with a winged ride, givin…
