How will ms spynet decide that a file is good or bad? Since I'm compiling my programs on my computer I'm afraid parts of my private code will be sent, so I'm trying to understand what is being sent to ms servers. Is there a correlation between one file's reputation to a related file's reputation (say a dll in which a 'bad' exe is using, or vice versa), What file types are being checked for this reputation info? I have been assaulted by this object and in the position where my Microsoft Security Essentials virus checker has been switched off and wont work in Xp unactivated. It doesnt allow met to uninstall MSE and I cant load a new edition because one is already running!!! My status for windows updates stays on yellow, like I'm not updated. Everytime I try to install Office XP Service Pack 3, it brings up error code: 0x8024002D, saying I need to install disk (which I don't have) My pc came used and preloaded with XP Pro, Vers. 2002. I was wasting time on supposedly safe sites and I got hit with the Win 7 virus. This is the second time that this has happened under McAfee antivirus. Anyway, I shut down the computer. Now when I restart, I can still sign in, but after that point, the entire screen is black. The ONLY visible things are the stupid messages from the Win 7 virus. This is true in safe mode as well, so I can't even open other anti-virus software saved on a flashdrive. And when I say black, I mean black. The only visible things are the dumb Win 7 virus messages that pop up out of the blackness. Any ideas? I would prefer advice on how to remove the virus in this state, but I will reformat…

I have not been able to successfully complete the installation of this Windows 7 SP1. I can upload the cbs logs if someone could interpret them. I appears to install correctly and then reboots. After rebooting, the screen indicates that the SP's was not installed correctly and takes about 1 hour to roll back. I tried uninstalling my Microsoft secuirty software. I tried installing in Safe Mode. I am running windows seven with McAfee security with windows Security and it is blocking my echolink. Echolink ran a test and the TCP Port 5200 is working but the UDP port is not working. At the moment I'm using Trend Micro on my two PC's but I'm thinking of switching to MSE. One reason (apart from the cost of renewing Trend Micro) is because Trend Micro has until now asked me to confirm before making each update but the latest product, Titanium, now updates regularly whether I want it to or not. I do a lot of travelling in areas where my laptop has to run from a dongle with a very poor connection at extremely slow speeds, so downloading an update just kills it. If I dump Trend and start using MSE instead, would I be able to set my laptop to ask me to confirm each time before it accepts a download? That way I could if necessary wait until later when I h…

I did a system restore and now my MSE does not work, in fact I can not even locate it on my computer. When I try to uninstall the program I get an error saying that it can't locate files to proper finish installation.
