So i have a following link https://*/modulas/m_exportByActivity.ashx?exportType=pdf&id=1083 In firefox, Chrome it just downloads the file. In IE 9 when i press save, the "filename" is: m_exportByActivity.ashx?exportType=pdf&id=1083 instead of the PDF file example.pdf. How come ? I know it's not an issue of the developer since it does work in all other browsers. Since IE is our standard, we would like to resolve this issue for our employees. Kind regards Continue reading...

Hi there. I hope this is the right forum/category. We have had an ongoing issue with our PCs displaying errors indicating corrupt WMI. In the sccm client “execmgr” log-file, the following entry appears: “Failed to instantiate Updates UI Server {2D023958-73D0-4542-8AD6-9A507364F70E} with error 8000401a” The Technet article at the link below suggest that this indicates a corrupt WMI: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrsum/thread/471d1211-5dbe-481f-aa85-2690b8089070/ This can be fixed uninstalling the sccm client, repairing WMI, then reinstalling sccm. However, as this issue has now appeared fairly regularly, I am keen to know if there could be …

Dear Sirs/madams, My question is as follow. We are implementing a new set of printers (iR-ADV C5045 canon). We've noticed that when you print something to the print que from outlook, the name of de object is "outlook - memo style", we would like this to be the subject from the mail. I've found out that Outlook 2010 uses default Styles to print mails, it's possible to create a new style, nevertheless the new style name appeard on the printer. When you print 20 mails, you'll never know which one is which. Is it possible to create a style naam with variable name such as the subject of the mail. It could be that we want something that isn't possible, but I want to be sure. …

Several times over the last few weeks we have received phone calls from parties stating they are either IT (with inaudible company name) or from Microsoft..stating that they are receiving reports from our computer that a virus, spyware, malware or phishing has been detected and is infecting our system. I have two different VPN for work, one is using OpenVPN and other one using SonicWall. When I connect with either one of those, Windows 7 (Ultimate Edition) doesn't let me access to any SSL type connection. It could be https or ssh into any machine, or even RDP connection. It give an error saying " Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end". Similar error while ssh'ing into any box. It's strange that it happens with both VPN connections. I tried using the same VPN connection on other machine and it works great without any problems. What could cause this issue? Is there any way to repair it besides having to reformat? I have already scanned for viruses/…

We to plan to deploy Windows 7 64-bit on brand new systems using WAIK and MDT. These are the first PCs we've seen with EFI. When setting up a PC manually, it now prompts to choose EFI or not. When choosing the EFI boot option, it loads 3 partitions on the hard disk. The hard disks are well under 2TB in size. Is there any reason to use the EFI option? It seems to add unneeded complexity to the installation for no benefit I can see. When I look this up, I see Microsoft Technet saying we need to run a bunch of extra commands to install Windows 7 on EFI. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744321(WS.10).aspx I don't see why we would need to do what the …

Do I have a virus that Microsoft Security Essentials isn't catching? If it's not a virus, then what is it & how do I get rid of it! Please help as my son, who is my IT, is in Afghanistan and won't be home until March. I need to get it off my computer before then! I am no longer able to use Outlook because every time I open it to even just check mail, Outlook sends out random spam emails to random people on my contact list. I ran a full scan on 1/1/2012 and again on 1/8/2012 and didn't get any detections in Outlook. I got 3 on the 1st & 2 on the 8th but they were all associated with Mozilla and I removed all of them. I opened Outlook for the 1st time since …

By Paul Thurrott Windows Phone 7.5 includes a great new feature called Linked Inbox, which lets you consolidate two or more email accounts into a single, integrated view. Not coincidentally, if you’re consolidating email accounts as I am, this feature can also be very useful when you want to send email from two or consolidated accounts. Here’s how to set it up. I have been fighting a trojan/:DOS Alureon.A for the last week. MSE ( up to date definitions)is the only antivirus on my Windows 7 64 bit PC. MSE tries to remove the virus but askes I use the Windows Defender Offline Beta. I created the boot cd on a clean PC and booted my infected PC with the tool. It found the virus, "removed" it and then upon starting with the regular boot, the MSE program alerts on the same virus and we go on the same circle. The same message appears telling me I need to download the standalone beta again which is not working. I ran the beta cd twice. Second time it scanned clean, but on restart, the virus was back. What now? Continue reading...

A bit of a background Users across our slower WAN links tend move around in a retail sales environment quite often, logging into different PC's from week to week. Because of our heavy use of emailing images to clients etc, user email can be big. So when they move to a differnet machine i need Outlook to only download headers.. We have just purchased Office 2010 and i have the custom installation deployed and configure perfectly except getting outlook configured with headers only. What i've tried Using the OCT tool i've selected to "Modify Profile" and "Define changes to make to …
