Hi, I am confused since I am reading that I cannot reimage an OEM Windows Pro PC wihtout SA with Windows 7 Ent licensing Media. But I just spoke to Anna in Microsoft Volume licensing support and she tells me that I dont need SA. ON another question here where one person asks about using the Enterprise Volume license for 30 OEM PCs one person claims that one SA license is sufficient. WHat is the correct answer. I am ofcourse leaning toward the support agent's reply - NO SA required. Continue reading...

On our web application, some users (IE8 and Win7) when they click on a link with a javascript call [ for example javascript:shownewcalender('Answerx') ] get a new window with the javascript call in the addressbar. This generates a page not found instead of the datepicker popup that should appear. It is not replicable on other Win7 IE8 systems. Could it have anyting to do with a corporate proxy server's settings? Other suggestions? Continue reading...

Microsoft works around the clock, year-round, to help. By following a few simple best practices, including opting into Automatic Updates and Internet Explorer’s SmartScreen Filter, you can help keep your computer secure on the Web. In our domain we have a group called Remote-Helpers set up for remote assistance. Some computers allow me to connect via Remote Assistance with my personal account (which is a member of the group "Remote-Helpers", others give me a "permission denied" error. If I log in as a domain admin on my computer, I'm able to connect to any computer via Remote Assistance. I have used group policy to enable the remote assistance setting and set the "remote-helpers" as a helper. The group policy is taking affect as some Internet Explorer settings are changed. These are on the same GP that i'm using to modify these RA settings. Still, I tried forcing a GPUpdate and also leaving and re…

...or when I do, the new comp doesn't recognize the .bkf file. Hi, folks. I've seen this issue before on forums but couldn't find a succesful resolution to it. To make a long story short, I moved everything to an external drive before upgrading from XP to 7, and now that I have upgraded, I can't seem to get the information back. I tried using the easy transfer application - and can't even see the .bkf file on the external drive through easy transfer, so I don't have the option there. The file doesn't even show, although it's obviously there. Then I clicked into the external drive from my computer and dragged it to the new desktop. The big .bkf file moved but I can…
