I have Microsoft Essentials installed on my computer. However, it also says that the real time protection is not on and my computer is at risk. I tried to click on it to turn it on but it says that time has run out and I can't turn it on. Have no idea what that means. Please help. Also on my computer I also see that I have malwarebytes, anti malware. Is this part of Microsoft essentials? Or is this another virus protection? Should I uninstall this? Prank call scam- 5.10pm Wed 18/1/2012 I have just received a call from an Indian sounding gentleman who claimed his name was Kevin Ward from the Service Department of Microsoft, The Internet Security Association. He stated his phone number was 073 1032557. He told me that his offices have been receiving messages – error report messages and that he would need to do an inspection on my computer. I have a old sony vaio that I believe may have hard drive damage. I can get the computer to start but after the sony screen it says "operating system not found". So I have tried using a re-install windows xp disk, because that was what i had on the computer before it no longer worked, from a dell computer. I've found this in the help, which seems to indicate that there is a telnet server for Windows XP: ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\telnet.chm::/telnetserver_und_conceptstopnode.htm (copy the whole line including the ms-its into Internet Explorer, I don't think it will work in anything else but IE, and if you're using a dual-boot system with XP as the second OS, change the C:\ to a d:\) Could somebody point me to a walkthrough on how to install and configure it? Hey there, I am trying to capture a sysprep'd image that I can deploy on many differant hardware profiles that automatically locates and installs drivers. I noticed there was a stage in sysprep after "sysprep.exe /oobe /generalize /reboot /unattend:unattend.xml" where it installs drivers. My assumption was when I added the path to the Microsoft-Windows-PnpCustomizationsNonWinPE_neutral as below that it would then use that path to search for drivers. Is this not the case? If so what method would work? The path on the local disk is C:\LocalCache\Drivers\ of course and there are subfolders within that which contain the individual drivers. SETUP-PC PASSWORD …

After experiencing multiple random error messages, I rebooted my computer and ran a full scan in safe mode with Microsoft Security Essentials, (10) Trojan Viruses were detected and the above referenced files were allowed. They still show up in the history as being "Allowed" after the following procedures. I downloaded Microsoft Security scan, ran a full scan which ran for 5 hours:12 minutes! No virus detected. Downloaded Microsoft Malicious Software removal tool, no viruses detected. While reviewing my firewall logs, I noted that something called Gemplus Cryptographic Service Provider recently started hammering at my firewall, trying to access a LOT of different IP addresses, all using TCP/IP destination ports 53, 443 and 5050. The origination ports are all over the map but don't seem to appear more than once. This GCSP appears to be something related to secure card readers, which I haven't loaded and don't use.
