Microsoft security essentials detected trojandownloader:win32\agent.yp... tried the remove option and it would say it was removed however upon restart of the system the detection would reappear. through much searching on the issue i then ran...CCLEANER and also ADVANCED SYSTEM SECURITY to clean up junk files, malware, registry and what not. System seemed to be clean afterwards...no more detections in security essentials, however this morning, recent programs does not show up in the start menu and 90% of my programs in the all programs folder show up as HIGHLIGHTED just like if they would have been JUST INSTALLED. everything is working fine, all programs open up and work a…

Help with product key!
by Guest cocomoen- 0 replies
Okay, hold your laughter. But anyway, my wife buys me a new laptop (Acer), oh, over six months ago. It's to replace a laptop that I bought for my daughter back in late summer 2002 that I inherited after she finished college. I use it to do merely writing using Word and spreadsheets with Excel (i.e. don't even use it to access the web). So for me, it worked. But she insisted on getting me a new laptop so she did. Anyway, it came with a Office 2010 pre-installed and all I had to do was go through the process (I assume) of listing the product key during the set-up. Well, I "assumed" that the product key came on a card (or some other documentation) inside the packaging for th…

CSS Corner: Using the Whole Font
by Guest ieblog- 0 replies
With cross-browser support for both the CSS3 @font-face rule and the WOFF font packaging format, modern Web typography has expanded far beyond the realm of ‘Web-safe fonts.’ Well-known magazines such as the New Yorker use Web fonts to preserve the typographic personality of their headlines, while [uS] President Obama’s re-election campaign uses Web font service Typekit to host their identity font. One remaining limitation prevents Web designers from using the entire font: the inability to access the large variety of optional OpenType® features built into many fonts. These features define glyph substitution and positioning options to support fundamental typographical fea…

download spreadsheet from SAP website
by Guest mkeener- 0 replies

Downloading a spreadsheet from a customer's SAP WebGui worked just fine for years on a Windows XP / Internet Explorer 6 / Excel 2003 computer but we can't get it to download on a Windows 7 / IE 9 / Excel 2010 computer. We choose Export, then Spreadsheet, then choose the file format (have tried every available option), then get the hourglass that never goes away until we log out of the website. There are no error messages. We have disabled UAC without changing the result. Excel is fully patched. Also had IE 8 and tried that with the same result. Have tried Firefox - same result. Can download Excel 2010 template files from Microsoft.com. We cannot change the custome…

program files missing
by Guest Eudoxia bbb- 0 replies

A well-meaning friend uninstalled a Windows file from my C/drive...thinking it was obsolete....now Word and Excel don't open/work at all, and the icon has changed to a file symbol. I can't find this uninstalled file to re-install it. ..or be sure what it was called. I haven't deleted or emptied the recycle bin....the Properties dialogue box on Word & Excel icons shows no file source which is worrying.I'm not even sure it was Word 2000...but suspect it was... The service pack 3 & all other additions are all still there in C/drive. I'm no expert....is there a way to make my computer locate what's missing? I've searched the index and can't find it or be confident…

User accounts lock out without any apparent reason
by Guest frtundra- 0 replies
I have an XP laptop with several user accounts that require a password to log in. Some of these accounts are set for the user to change password at next logon. The rest of them have already been changed by the user. I have a user account with admin rights in addition to access to the built-in administrator account. When I start working on this computer, I check the status of all of these accounts. Often times, some or most of them are locked out. I unlock all accounts and then do my work. Before shutting down I check these accounts again and sometimes many of these accounts have already locked out. My own user account sometimes also locks. To get back in, I hav…

Help: Problem, suddenly unable to send outgoing faxes with Windows XPsp3
by Guest artbenis- 0 replies

Suddenly outgoing faxes go to OUTBOX instead of sending. Fax WIZARD works normally. Fax monitor does not pop up when trying to send fax.. Fax monitor does pop up and connect with telephone line when enabled by selecting RECEIVE FAX in the Console menu. So the problem is not a bad telephone line connection. Have done a system restore, uninstalled ZoneAlarm, to no effect. Checked Fax Tools, Printer status reads ONLINE. Using Windows XP sp3, Windows Firewall, Avast antivirus. Need a solution badly.
