I have windows 7 and automatic updates have always downloaded properly for me and I have never had a problem until recently. The update trying to install on my computer is Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB97632) Ther version I have is 32 bit. I have read tons of forums and done many searches and have tried countless options but nothing has worked for me. I have tried the hotfix and manually downloading the file from the internet and installing it and nothing is working. If I have missed a forum or solution I am terribly sorry, but from what I have seen and tried, the problem still persists. This is really annoying and I would like to solve it. Just a little fyi, I have ESET …

using XP pro SP3 on a Dell Precision M6400 Will rip just fine for quite a few CD's, then hangs unpredictably on a particular track. The program hangs, and the 'stop Ripping' button will not actually stop anything. At that point the program freezes, and cannot even stop in in the Program Manager (doesn't show up as a running program, and cannot stop the process). The system will not reboot by itself, it hangs on the "shutting down..." screen. Extremely annoying! Anyone else have this issue? My system is not prone to freezes. This is the first program that has hung the machine like this! Help? Anyone? Thanks! Continue reading...

By Paul Thurrott As expected, Microsoft announced record revenues of $21 billion for the quarter ending December 31, 2011, a 5 percent improvement over the same quarter a year earlier. The company pocketed 6.62 billion in net income. But as was also expected, most analysts seem to be focused on the fact that the quarter was a relative bust for the Windows Division, which posted a 6 percent year over year decline with still-strong revenues of $4.74 billion. XP Pro SP3 and Server 2003. I have had a few XP Pro SP3 domain member clients come to me saying they can’t print, or they can’t see their normal mapped drive shares on the LAN. When the client logs on, the Group Policy runs a small CMD file that deletes previous drive mappings, and then remaps the same drives. Also, when you look at the shared printers, they are there, but each one says “access denied”. It is as though they log on but do not authenticate correctly. I have found that if I run the group policy CMD file locally on the client’s station that deletes the drive mappings and then remaps the drives - after they have logged on, I am able resolve the problem fo…

Greetings, I work in desktop support for a community college. This summer we began changing our activation scheme from MAK to KMS as we cycle out computers. We thought everything went fine until a few weeks ago when some users started reporting their copies of windows were not genuine. The first few reports we thought were a fluke, but it now appears that most of the computers we deployed this summer are affected. When a computer has this issue we are able to reactivate the computer either via the gui or slmgr.vbs /ato without issue. It looks like our KMS server is functioning properly but our clients are not renewing their licenses. Running slmgr.vbs /dlv confirms…

I followed the instructions here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee523217(WS.10).aspx to create a bootable USB stick with Imagex on it to capture my sysprepped windows 7 box. When I run it using the following command E:\imagex /compress fast /check /flags “Enterprise” /capture X: E:\install.wim “Windows 7 Enterprise Custom” it errors out with the following error: [ERROR] X:\Windows\security\database\edb.log (Error = 32) Error imaging drive [X:\] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. I have tried updating the version of imagex that I am using as suggested by the following Microsoft KB article. http://support…

I opened my computer and immediately was innodated with pop ups alerting me to the threat of trojans, malware, and other viruses. They would not go away, and I could not get past the pop ups. I paniced and paid to have all the viruses go away. Now I cannot gain access to my email. I had to create another email just incase. Also it was somehow attached to my Windows ID. My secured password does not work, and my secret question does not work either. I am told it is the wrong answer. Is there any way I can gain access to the internet from my shortcut, and my email again? Continue reading...
