I posted the msg below on Feb 2 snd. I thank you for your replies. What I want to further explain my problem is after investigating it, is that this only happened/s when I go into Windows update and download/install the 9 critical updates. After restarting as it says to do that's when the PC hangs. To get my PC up I had to put my previous backup on and then I was able to use my PC again. Do any of you have a solution to this? I was thinking of trying to narrow it down by installing the first 3 updates, restarting to see if it happens and if there is no problem trying the next 3 etc. etc., and see if I can pin the culprit down. Can you think of …

Windows Live Messenger doesn't work the same way in Windows 7 as it did in previous versions of Windows. And many, myself included, don't like that it spews unnecessary buttons on the taskbar. Fortunately, there is a way to make Messenger work like it did before. Here's how. View the full article

Is there any way of correcting this or can I change the whole document?

Program won't start
by Guest MrsQuack- 0 replies

Has there been anymore on this? We have an application developed with Filemaker Pro 6. Originally for WIn95 but it's been working fine on all O/S up to Windows 7. It's in a runtime format. The installation went normally with no warnings but when we click on the executable file we get the same error "Filemaker Pro Runtime has stopped working". The program works on Vista machines with other customers and none of them have gotten any errors except in one instance where we resolved it by changed the compatibility mode to XP. This is the first time we've seen this runtime error and I thought it might be because of Windows security. However, i…

I fixed it but only by fiddling with the seperator bars. Finally everything popped into place. There must be a logical, systematic way to do this but beats me. One clue is "theme" under personalize seems to play a role in my straightening it out/ Thanks to all for your suggestions. The other pages go through the ADF, but are not inserted into the same file as the first page of the doc. I have tried adjusting 'prompt for add'l pages' with no luck. Advice? Thank you.

I had the same persistent error, and it was frustrating to see this message "please check data and time", as obviously this was checked easily. The problem was on the company's internet PROXY messing with certificates. I used an alternate PROXY (you know, the one that only the IT dept knows about?) and now it works! No re-boot! Hi, From win7pro I need to run a 3rd party file synch application (mysynch.exe) from a vbs script invoked from a domain GPO's User Logoff Script folder. Is the user has selected Shut Down instead of Log Off, the script would actually run when windows has started the process of shutting down. Hence I wonder how to call mysynch.exe from my vbs script ensuring that windows waits until this process has finished before continuing the shutdown process (i.e. which parameters to set, and other possible issues in this situation) I crosspost to vista.general to have possible comments about other techniques to safely run and wait for appl…
