I got win7 2012 virus attack on one of my laptop (non admin user account) few days ago. I used rkill.exe that seems fixed problem. But today I found I could not run IE or firefox. Once it starts couple of second, the IE or FF window will disappear. I tried to upgrade to IE 9 (from IE 8) I still have same problem in all my account include admin). Thanks for help! I have found that these icons may be installed with registry settings. However, the .cfg files have to be saved under the local profile. Is there a variable I can use for the local profile, i.e., %USERPROFILE%? I am attempting to do an In-Place upgrade of Windows 7 RTM x64 onto Vista Sp2 x64. Everything seemed to go smoothly except that it is currently stuck at 62% on the last step. It has been stuck there from about 5 hours now. It goes between "Please Wait..." and "Transfering files,settings,ect.. xxxxx out of xxxxxx". every time I have tried to boot up out of hibernation mode, I get the blue screen. I have restarted using the last known good configuration. When the computer is booted up, the microsoft support screen for stop 0x000000D1 comes up. I have 2 issues with MS Word 2010. FYI this was downloaded from Microsoft's site and a Key Card used. Also an FYI that I also have Word '97 installed due to needing it for an old work database. The first issue has been going on since installation. When I open word 2010 be it by opening up a document or just word itself it freezes. There is another much smaller window behind the main one that says Word 2010 in the Title Bar but is otherwise blank. The only fix is to close the Winword process. When I reopen it is fine. I have client who purchased Acer systems with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. We purchased Windows 7 Pro and wiped and reloaded the system. We did not do an upgrade, we tried but our volume license would not allow for an upgrade so we had to do a clean install. These are all the same system. We had one machine that seemed to work up until we joined it to the 2008 domain then blue screen.
