I know this isn't really the ideal forum - but as far as I can tell there is nowhere to tell Microsoft that they have a fault with their website/accounts. If this is the wrong location, please can someone direct me to the correct people. Whenever attempting to download an RC-stage product (this time it was System Center VMM 2012 RC) through the Technet site it always fails at the stage after 'registering' with the error: 'An unknown error occurred while processing your request. This is most likely due to a connection failure. Please try again.' This happens regardless of computer used, network I'm connected to, whatever internet connection I'm on - it is an account…

Hi Everyone i am having problems at the moment of activating win 7 in my company, everytime we try to activate a computer we get an error, we have a proxy installed and i am guessing thats where the problem is, because when we perform the activation in another network that does not have proxy, firewall or any type of security, the activation happens without any problem. Any ideas on how to fix this? Does anyone know the link where WIn7 goes to activate himself???? Continue reading...

I'm using Windows 7 Professional and I have a problem as the folders I open don't have the same look and feel. I would like all folders to show contents as a list. Right now, it always shows Details. I would also like to have the folder display in Ascending order. Any suggestions? I have disabled a lot of features to optimize performance, don't know if that means anything. Continue reading...

I would like to remove the address bar in Internet Explorer 9 but still be able to use the tab bar. I've tried the following registry keys: SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars\Restrictions DWORD=NoNavBar VALUE=1 SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars\Restrictions DWORD=NoAddressBar VALUE=1 The first option (NoNavBar) removes the address bar, navigation buttons and the tab bar. The second option does nothing. This is what the browser looks like right now, I need the tabs back: Continue reading...

So I have had this machine for over a year and for a while now I have been having a problem with downloading any security updates. When I attempt to download an error always pops up before completion. I changed from MSE to avast to see if they would pick anything up. It said everything was clean, but when I tried to reinstall MSE it gave me the error code 643. The newest one says that I do not have the correct admin rights. I am trying to find out what will it take to get a scan of the entire system to include the start up area. If this porblem is fimiliar with any others please point me in the right diection so that I can read up on it. Any help will be taken. Rich…

Xbox and Kinect the Stars of Microsoft's Final CES Keynote
by Guest Paul Thurrott- 0 replies
By: Paul Thurrott Microsoft’s final CES keynote address focused on Windows Phone, Windows 8, and the Xbox. But it’s somewhat fitting that most of the truly new information was about Kinect, the one truly successful consumer product that the company has launched in the past few years. But enthusiasts were disappointed that Microsoft only described existing features in Windows Phone and Windows 8, while providing absolutely no clues about the future at all. Continue reading...

Disable restart on Windows XP
by Guest DanPierce- 0 replies

I have XP cloned desktops in VMware View 5.0. I use Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 device control to deny access to USB ports on Wyse P20. When a user plugs in a USB device a message pops up "Windows has finished installing new devices. The software that supports your device requires that you restart your computer. Do you want to restart your computer now?" Restarting will not do anything because the cloned desktops get refreshed on every logoff/restart. I want to either not have that message pop up or preferably deny users from restarting. Continue reading...

by Guest Barkley Bees- 0 replies

We are currently reviewing our AntiVirus exclusion policy for our Windows XP clients and considering to more closely follow the Microsoft recommendations at kb822158. By following this kb closer we ensure the stability of the OS and decrease the scan times for the AV client however the concern is we increase the risk to client systems by excluding folders and files. Do you follow kb822158 in your corporate environment for your Windows client systems? Continue reading...
