This issue has been bothering me for a while. Hopefully, someone knows what the solution might be because I've tried everything. Here is what I'm experiencing: At some point in our distant past, we had set all machines to use a pac file for IE. Years later, we deleted the pac file, and forgot about it. Since then, we moved everyone to Win 7. Now, it looks like these new machines are hitting the server where the old pac file was kept even though we never set up IE to use it. I've tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271361 disabling the auto proxy cache, and that seemed to eliminate some of the machines, but there are still a bunch that are trying. Anyone know w…

Cannot restore files from full file backup (error 0x81000011) - Help!!
by Guest SCBreeze- 0 replies

I was running Vista SP1 on an HP system with an AMD 2.3GHz quadcore with 8GB of RAM. I used Vista Backup and Restore to perform a Full file backup before upgrading to Windows 7. The backup was placed on a secondary hard drive, and ran with no errors. I then tried to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. That was a trail of tears in and of itself, but after finally having to do Factory Restore back to Vista and then a fresh install of Windows 7, I succeeded in getting Windows 7 running. I then ran the Restore utility to recover my full backup. The Recover worked on most all of our files, except a few ripped audio tracks and some others I can live without. Unfortunately…

Severity Rating: Important Revision Note: V1.0 (January 10, 2012): Bulletin published. Summary: This security update resolves one privately reported vulnerability in the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting (AntiXSS) Library. The vulnerability could allow information disclosure if an attacker passes a malicious script to a website using the sanitization function of the AntiXSS Library. The consequences of the disclosure of that information depends on the nature of the information itself. Note that this vulnerability would not allow an attacker to execute code or to elevate the attacker's user rights directly, but it could be used to produce information that could be used…

Windows 7 Professional KMS key uninstalled?
by Guest Jeff Marty- 0 replies
All- Recently, we have had some issues with KMS activation. Usually we will get a ticket on a client computer "Windows is not Genuine", it's random and never happens on the same computer. When I check the EM logs, I don't see any errors from the Windows Security SPP source. I then check to see if I can run slmgr.vbs /ato which returns "product key not installed", however it was installed during imaging. I am using the right key ends in GPDD4. I can not re-install the key through the computer proprieties pane I can only install the key using slmgr.vbs /ipk "key", then run the /ato switch. This resolves the issue, and I'm on my way to the next issue. My question is wh…

Error code 800b0109 and Window Defender disabled

I cannot run windows update without error code Error code 800b0109 popping up. Windows Defender is deactivated and attempts to start it bring up error code 0x800705b4. I didn't run any other antivirus except Microsoft Security Essentials, which I was uninstalling and attempting to reinstall amidst the folly of trying to run both MSE and Windows Defender at the same time, thinking they were separate products.
