Introducing Seven More IEBlogs
by Guest ieblog- 0 replies
Today we introduce seven new language versions of IEBlog—French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Korean, Japanese, Chinese (PRC), and Russian. Links to these appear in the new “Languages” block at the top of the right column. We plan to publish translated versions five to ten days after their appearance on the English language IEBlog. We’ve worked hard to localize most of the language elements on the page and in the posts themselves. Text within images will remain in English though we translate captions and image alt text. Markup and code samples will also remain in English. Occasionally, we’ll mistakenly translate an HTML, CSS, or JavaScript keyword please forgive us. The …

CD/DVD drive letter was inadvertantly 'renamed' during restoration of WINXP on this PC....
by Guest rudyh50- 0 replies

from original naming of 'D' to 'F'. ALL commercial software CD's with the exception of MS FltSimX were easily able to identify the DVD/CD drive and begin a re-installation of their programs as part of my final restoration process. The MS Flight Sim X absolutely refused to 'engage' either autorun or through the control panel after many, numerous attempts, the Windows even 'froze'. Again this Flight Sim was the ONLY one that would not even begin the install process. I ask how could this be, if all others ran just fine? Could there be a limit as to the number of times an MS cd will allow install/re-install on the SAME PC? Any help will be gratefully appreciated......rhh rud…

Scripted uninstall
by Guest jthomas777- 0 replies

I have several new machines here with win7. I need to uninstall some OEM programs off of them. I have been trying to script something that would use the uninstall string in the registry. I have been somewhat successful except for the fact that UAC keeps preventing me from doing some installs, and while trying to uninstall some programs it is asking for approval or an ok or cancel even though i am running it silent. Does anyone have any ideas what i can use for a script to remove programs on these computers. I am also trying to streamline the process for future computer deployments.Jim Thomas Continue reading...

IE9 unable to connect to SBS 2011 through connect wizard
by Guest Gorlaw- 0 replies

I upgraded to SBS 2011. Most of my client computers were running IE8. When I tried to run the connect wizard using IE8, I was able to connect to the new network. However, I also downloaded updates on some of my computers while working on others. When a client computer was updated with IE9, the client computer was not able to run the connect wizard to connect to the new network, even though I am unable to connect to the exact same SBS 2011 using IE8. My network has 11 computers. I stopped the updates to IE9 on seven computers, which are able to connect to the new SBS 2011 server using IE8. The other four computers installed IE9 and cannot connect, even if I uninstal…
