IE 9 and Firefox not working but Chrome is working? Why is this? They will work when i turn off Avast Virus protection. I have a wireless laptop that is on the same network and all 3 browsers work fine on the laptop. I looked up some solutions - I did "ipconfig /flushdns" and "netsh winsock reset" and no change. I recently got a virus/trojan called "Win 7 Security." Not sure how it made it past MSE, with all the definitions up to date... In any case, I followed the instructions at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-Win-7-Security-2012 However, I didn't have any problems running RKill without renaming, and it came up clean. Malware Bytes also didn't come up with any infected items. After running these, of course I ran MSE, which came up with 3 infected items. I just bought a Hewlett Packard Pavilion Windows XP 98 that has Parental Control's as well as password protected so I cant take off programs or work as Administator to repair or up date it .....I cant even get on line using it I have another pc that Im using Windows Vista and wanted to fix this one as a back up or give to my son... I have a client that is running a peachtree accounting package on a XP Pro (32) machine. The Xp machine is part of a small workgroup (5XP machines). Anyone know the answer to the question of running a virtual XP machine on an SBS 2011 essentials machine without needing to load hyper V? I am looking at putting in an SBS 2011 essentials server (no email just file share, backup, domain control, application). I know I can virtualize the XP machine but I want to know if I can run the virtual XP machine on the proposed SBS 2011 essentials machine. My computer has been infected with System Check Virus. I ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner and found Trojan:win32/FakeSysdef & Trojan:win32/Alureon,FL. It said removed but manual steps required. I have ran TDDDKiller also. My files under start/all programs are all gone. Can't access my computer. From what I have read I think they are just hidden. Hi I need help! My AOL toolbar which is on Internet Explorer 9 browser suddenly made my toolbar links disappear. I have looked all over onine to try and see what happened and how to find them, to no avail. These are favorite links seperate from my actual "favorites" folders which are still entact. I had been using this feature on the toolbar as a temporary thing just until I could copy them. I have so many I dont even know what they were, and Im so bummed and frustrated. Just installed Outlook 2010 on home PC (Windows 7). Attempted to set up two email accounts. Gmail then Yahoo. yahoo account would not find settings, then I remembered Yahoo does not work with Outlook, so I removed the yahoo account. The yahoo account will not go away from the navigation pane, and is listed as the default account. I never assigned it to be the default account (at least not intentionally). Even though it does not exist in the accounts set-up, it still exists in the navigation pane as the default account. When I select the Gmail account it will not let me change it to be the default account. So I'm stuck with a non-existent account as my default. I have not …

I tried to turn off Norton Anti-virus automatic anything, so that I would have some control however, it still runs updates and scans, etc., in the background, and it seems like when browsing with Windows on IE8 is real slow, I hear the computer working when it is otherwise quiet. Does Norton clash with Windows Security function, and if so, is there anything I can do about it? If the answer is uninstalling Norton, am I OK with just Windows Security?
