Hi, I use IE 9 with socks in order to connect to a socks4 server (I use this because IE does not support socks5) The socks4 specifies that a socks4 client has the possibility/obligation(?) to indicate in the SOCKS4 request message a variable length userID field (after specifying at CONNECT version, command, dest port and dest ip fields) I didn't find that information (userId) when using IE 9. Is there a way that could make IE send userID information ? Maybe it could send the user information in case the user is logged on an active directory domain ? I see this as a way for the socks5 server to determine the identity of the requesting client/user. I mention that I saw …

Hopefully this is the correct forum for this... i have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on some spare hardware and trying to see how it behaves. one of the things that i have noticed is that when logged with a standard domain user account and trying to install a network printer that is published in Active Directory and managed from a print server the installation requires elevated credentials to finalize the installation. this was not the case with Windows XP and users would not be able to provide credentials with elevated privileges so the print install would fail. is there something that can be configured to allow a standard user to install a printer, and the associ…

original title: I apparently was hit by a virus yesterday. It seems that although I remove everything using Microsoft Essentials, something is not working. The virus reappears I apparently was hit by a virus yesterday. A WARNING - popped up by Malware Protection Center that had a shield in red and green. It noted that I had 24 infected files and listed such things as :Virus.Bat.Gray.705, Trojan-Spy.Win32.Win Patch, Bat.Looper Trojan-PSW.Win32.Hooker.. The required action was to delete. I just closed it and ran a scan that found only 2 files: Trojan.Win32/Simdu.r and Trojan.Win64/Simdu.R The Microsoft Security Essentials only did a quarantine. I wasn't allowed to r…

I have an .msi package that contains multiple clients and when I select to install I have options for what clients I wish to install. How can I strip out the bits I don't need and have an .msi that will only install the one client from this package that I do need? I need this for pushing out to users via Group Policy. I want to "Publish" the .mis to "Users" and when users select to install from “Add/Remove Programs” I want it to install as a passive install, so the users sees the progress but don't have to select any options. This has been done before at my site, but the guy who done it has since left. He used the original .msi package and did just this to it. However…

Cheers! I do have the following problem: I installed the entire Hardware, being an Asrock board, the intel i5 2500k, SSD Sata-3 Drive, ram and all the other stuff. The machine is up and running and i can boot into the bios where everything is as it should be. Since i did not purchase a CD-Rom Drive, i downloaded the windows 7 professional image from MSDA network, used the image to make it bootable (with "unetbootin") - chose it as primary boot device (since the SSD is completely new and doesnt contain any files). Now the problem: When Booting, the "initialising Windows files" screen appears and loads successfully. Afterwards, when it says "starting windows", the "setup" c…
