original title: New to MSE I used to have Norton, but I continued to have viruses turning it off and come on my computer, and had live help via phone 3x! So now I have downloaded MSE and have had this for the past month now. I also saw several people in the community who reccommended downloading Malwarebytes to get rid of any deep malware you think your computer may have. So I did this also. So far in the past month I have not had ANYTHING come up on the MSE and my Windows Defender will not turn on. Hello, I am having a problem with IE9's History function. Clicking the yellow star, then clicking "History", I select a week and I get four quastion marks in diamonds and only one or two History entries, although I visited many more sites. The problem gets worse the closer I am to today if I select, say, week 32 I get the question marks but I get many site entries (I cannot tell if all of the sites I browsed are there, but there are many entries) while if I choose today or 2 weeks ago I get the question marks quadruple and only 1 or 2 sites. I am running Windows XP Home, SP3. At some point, I think it was about a year ago, after some windows update, all of the HTML file icons in Windows Explorer changed from the regular "BLUE E" icons, to the default file icons. I have searched high and low for a way to get them back to the "BLUE E" icons. But so far, to no avail. Can someone tell me what I can do to get the HTML icons back in windows explorer? After installing Windows 7 (Clean Install), I went into Audit mode by pressing ctrl+shift+f3. I changed some settings and installed updates, rebooted fine. Then I changed group policy settings and at the reboot, I got "Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer." The changes I made, I changed maximum password age to 0 and and minimum password length to 7. I didn't install any software so far and didn't run sysprep either. Continue reading...

The Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER") is not working in the Internet Explorer. We have a requirement like, there are two different websites say, www.example1.com and www.example2.com. I have to redirect all the users who uses www.example1.com to www.example2.com, and when we intentionally select www.example1.com in the dropdown list of www.example2.com it should have to open without any redirection. Hello, We're using Exchange 2003, Outlook 2003 and Exchange ActiveSync with Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 PDAs. Since about two weeks ago, any changes to the TIMES of appointments are not synchronized with the PDAs, i.e., the PDA always shows the original appointment time. Any other changes, e.g., modifying the subject field or message text, marking the appointment as Private, setting a Category, etc are synchronized. This happens on all our PDAs with all our users and can be reproduced at will. Everything else, e.g., syncing e-mail, appears to work normally. I have a very personal message on my closing screen posted by some one else. certainly not a friend. window 7. acer, I have gone back factory settings, the message is not there every time I close the system. The message is sensitive to my family. No one else had access to my machine when the messages first started to appear. bought the machine from PC world, there help desk could not get rid of it. macfee online service could not find a a virus, not that it is. I recently installed the Office 2010 Professional Plus and am trying to use Word 2010 to write Masters Degree essays. I can see the Citations and Bibliography area within the References tab, but all the options are shaded grey and I cannot therefore select anything to add a citation or bibliography etc. I already went into the Options section to ensure that all the requisite boxes were ticked, but am now out of all ideas. Whenever I have to restore my last session in IE 9 the system not only opens the tabs from my last session but also re launches itself at times up to 40 times. Usually all of the launches of the program are not the ones containing my last viewed tabs but instead just have my home pages as if it were to have simply been launched. I have experienced this issue on 4 computers so far and had initially let the issue ride thinking it could be a glitch that would go away with the first update, I however was wrong. Here is my situation. HQ Office I have Windows 2008 Server. About 10 computers in this office and all on active directory. No issues there. Server IP of 192.168.0.250. Remote Office A. 3 computers. They have a persistent VPN connection to the HQ Office (netgear routers). While I can map drives using \\192.168.0.250, first, I'm unable to map drives using \\server (to shared folders). Hi Experts, I am using inbuilt utility of Windows to backup my documents. The issue is whenever it runs incremental backup, it just copies the directory structure, with no file (or link to previously backed up) files in it. So if I have to restore any file, I have to check all the backups to find the file. I do understand that incremental backup only backs up files which have been changed since last backup, but is there a way it can just create a link to those files? I am unable to turn Windows Defender on. It is OFF and I cannot turn it back on. I received an error report, 0x800705b4, but cannot find what it refers to. I need antispyware in my Security Center, and discovered I had 2 antivirus programs, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Lavasoft AdAware, which I did not know was also an antivirus program. I uninstalled it, leaving only Windows Defender which I cannot turn back on (it had been OFF when I opened Security Center) and MSE. Please help, as I feel vulnerable now!
