Any time I try to run a downloaded file (such as getting a new printer driver or trying to run a scan) I get a message which says, "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." I Am using IE 9 on a Windows 7 64 bit platform. The 32-bit version of IE 9 has stopped allowing certain webpage links to work properly. In one case I noticed these were Java-based links. The 64-bit version of IE 9 seems to work properly but some of the webpages I'm accessing only work with the 32-bit version of IE 9. I've searched the web for solutions, but I'm beginning to think I E9 (32 bit version) have become corrupt or are missing some DLL files. Has anyone had this same issue and how do you fix it? I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java. I've looked at my security settings within IE 9 to see if something is interfering with certain types of links …

We are in the process of migrating our University from Office 2007 to Office 2010. I've created new group policy objects for Office 2010 and migrated all our Office 2007 settings over. The Field Shading policy under 'Microsoft Word 2010/Word Options/Advanced' does not seem to be working, we normally have this set to Always and this works fine under Office 2007. I've confirmed that the policy is being applied and other settings are working as expected. I checked the admx file to see what registry setting this gpo should apply and can confirm that the the following key is being set: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\word\options\vpref] "grpfvi…

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and had spyware that hijacked my search engine for the longest time. Finally I hacked my registry and got rid of the worst traces of it, unfortunately I also apparently broke the feature that allows it to search and sort result from the address bar via my preferred search engine. Now it just kind of times out. I'm hoping to find a patch or repair kit that re-installs the default settings of IE 9.0 in my registry and let's me continue to use the 64 and 32 bit versions of my favorite browser. When i attempt an upgrade/install to 9.0 from the web, I get an error message saying that my current version is newer than the one I am attempting …

I have been using Access 2003 for many years in a file share mode to share a data base for the employees of my wife's company. Recently the office was relocated and a new type of intranet was employed. The owner of the building set up the intranet using his equipment until such time as our T1 and VPN could be set up. For the first time ever the data base user encountered an Action Failed alert while accessing and editing data. The alert indicated, or seemed to indicate, that the macro which loads the table malfunctioned. The table was in use at the time. My first thought was that a technician working in the IT room unplugged a cable, interrupting the data flow. When I …
