I feel that someone is manipulating my laptop! everytime I turn it on the "Microsoft security proteccion" symbol is red, so I go in and see that "real time proteccion is off!!! What means the error code 0x8040154. I Was Saving a file (slide of pictures) on Wondows Live Movie Maker. The Total Of Picture are 2197. I Did Not noticed that the Full Scan was about to start (scheduled). and it did. so ths saving of my movie is taking forefer. so I wanted to stop the full scan and run it later, but I can't. i 'm getting the error code 0x8040154. . Did fresh install with OEM disk from DELL. Put in drivers (dell M6600 workstation). Unable to install service packs etc. Gives 800B0100 message. Used MSFix etc several times. Says fixed then upgrade won't install service pack etc then run MSFix again, says fixed, then upgrade won't install service pack..... and so on. Help. Note hardware check run and tested all ok. I just got a call from someone identifying themselves as a tec from Microsoft. He tells me I have a virus and/or malware installed on my computer and he wants to help me get rid of it. I was to let him have my computer by remote. I told him I can't do that now but I'd call him back. He gave ma a phone number and an ID number but I'm unsure this is OK. Anyone know if this is a legitimate call? He told me he called because I sent "inform microsoft of this problem" when I got an error message. xp sp3 sudden power off, two tone beep from pc low/high. sometimes it powers down at startup, sometimes in the middle of a game (Skyrim), etc. an52 mother board, amd A64x2 4800,PNY geforce gtx 550 Ti video. I am also getting an error message at startup "please reset cpu function in setup" Not really sure how to do that. Cpu fan and mb fan both running, but aux fan I installed seems to have died. I have ran Microsoft Security Essentials scan twice on my laptop. The icon remains amber in color and the home page says "You haven't run a scan on your compter for a while. This could put your computer at risk." I ran a quick scan, a full scan and a customized scan, and it doesn't recognize the scan. Hello all, Recently my friend gave me his Acer Aspire 1420P tablet/laptop after a recent upgrade, and he had it reset to factory defaults. I have a bootable Windows 7 Professional x64 USB drive, and I decided to do a clean install (bloat makes me shudder!). It appeared to be working fine until the aforementioned error appeared. I have been scratching my head at this, and I tried poking about in Google, but nothing applied to me because they were talking about old DVD drives, etc. Is there any solution for this other than to fork out £30-odd for an external DVD rewriter? I'm trying to set up a site-wide deployment for an application that has a tree of data users need to read and write under C:\ProgramData\ The folder C:\ProgramData\ and its subfolders show the "I" attribute when viewing attributes with the "attrib" command. The "R" attribute is *not* set. However, folder properties in the Windows Explorer show the "Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)" attribute box is selected. I can try to unset the read-only attribute using the Windows Explorer properties menu it will ask if I want to "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files"...and that dialog box will go away after pressing "OK". Hi - We are looking to deploy 1) Microsoft Word Macro-Enabled Template (.dotm) and 2) Microsoft Power Point 97-2003 Presentation (.ppt) template to all our Office 2010 users. I tried to create the following key to test the deployment - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Spotlight\Providers\[ProviderName] - But I don't get any results - No error messages either. All our users are currently using Windows XP 32 bit. Yet, within the next six months we will be migrating to Windows 7 64bit.
