Trying to install MSE on my old XP computer that I use now mostly for gaming. OS is XP SP3 with all updates. I recently removed ZoneAlarm Pro and now use XP's builtin firewall. Today, I uninstalled AVG Free 2011 using AVG's removal utility. Then I downloaded the XP version of MSE from the Microsoft download center and tried to install. Install started, but then failed with error code 0x80070645. Rebooted PC and tried again, same result. I've looked for any leftover files from Zone Alarm and AVG but haven't found any. CHecked running services and do not see any that look related to Zone Alarm or AVG either. I think I tried MSE on this machine a couple years ago and gave up…

I have windows 7 on a new HP laptop and I can find no way to adjust the balance on the windows media player. On most music, the player plays the left side much louder than the right side. I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop with Windows XP & SP2 update installed. Processor is Intel Pentium 4. My system is clean with no rubbish software running. I have several anti-malware & anti-spyware systems installed but they are dormant & not running during the attempted installation. SP3 almost completes installation but freezes at "Finishing" stage showing "Running processes after install". Anti-virus is of course switched off. The system then hangs fore-ever with hard disc activity showing intermittently but nothing else happening. Have been trying for weeks to do my first OEM instal of Windows 7. I used the 10 part System Builder Basics videos from oempartner on YouTube. There are numerous errors in those videos. I resolved all but one. When I run the Diskpart script, ConfigHD2.txt to hide the recovery partition, i get an error that it can not perform the operation. After MANY hours of searchiung and trying different things I used the OVERRIDE command and it comes out errror free. Then, when I boot back into Audit Mode, the Recovery partiton is not hidden and is designated Drive D:. Where can I post to find a solution to this problem. Your help is greatly appreciated! I have a 1 tb drive installed with Win 7 and i want to add an SSD drive for the o/s . Can I just remove the 1 tb drive and do a fresh install on the new ssd , adding the hd after ? My mb (sabertooth x79) also comes with an ssd drive cache feature ( marvell) . This involves connecting the hd and a second ssd drive to the marvell controller . Ie9 crashes spontanously when doing a Facebook PHOTO UPLOAD, upon opening the system's PICTURES folder. The behavior appears to be an incompatibility between PICTURES (which is a photograph folder with 'Date Taken') folder and uploading and it happens in many other web based uploads, not just Facebook. Unable to unhighlight 'Date Taken' in IE9 to see if that is the cause, I installed FIREFOX in customer's system and it does not experience the problem. Running current VISTA and IE9 releases with all patches as of 2/3/2012. Reinstalling Ie9 has no effect. Drive repair and various antialware solutions have no effect. ? Continue reading...
