Hello All, I have a system that was recently infected with a virus, after repairing the system I started to receive an error message stating that Windows needed to be verfied as genuine but whenever I tried to run Windows Genuine Advantage I received the error "We are unable to determine whether your copy of Windows is genuine at this time." Rather than screw around with it I decided to just reformat the system so now there is a fresh installation of Windows XP Pro x86 on the system. I downloaded Office 2010 on my laptop. I tried setting up my email account following Go Daddy set up instructions on Outlook 2010. I made a mistake in the Wizard Set up choosing Exchange instead of just Internet E-mail. I get the message: the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable, Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. I tried to start it over, uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2010. It didn't change anything and I am stuck each time I try to launch Outlook 2010. Could someone tell me how I could start over the Wizard Set up? Continue reading...

I wanted to run something off of my old Windows XP install, so I plugged it in as an external hard drive and attempted to boot from it. The machine blue screened on me. (I now know this is a bad idea). I then attempted to boot as I normally would from my internal hard drive, which has Windows 7 installed on it. It would not boot. I went through the start up recovery wizard with no luck. I swapped the drives and was able to boot XP. The device manager showed that the disk with windows 7 on it is now exactly the same size as the disk with XP on it (it used to be significantly bigger) and it needed to be formatted. Is there anyway to figure out how to determine what caused an Event 41? Also when the computer turned back on. It had to go to startup repair. When that finished I logged in and my Norton 360(version 5) had lost all its updates, so I had to re-install them(about 120 MB). I still cannot figure out what exactly is causing it. I have installed the 64-bit Remote Server Admin Tool KB (KB958830) on my fully patched system and am able to add some Features ( i.e. ADUCs installs fine), but when I try to install the Group Policy Management Tools (the GPMC) the progress bar zooms to the far right and sits there for a few minutes. After that I get the message that "An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed." The GPMC is not installed. Clicking OK generates a Restart Now/Later dialog. Restarting does not help. It's not generating any event log entries and I don't know where to look for any possible logs. Anyone have any clues why this is happening? I'm not even sure…

MSE and Malaware won't start. I've checked services (through run...services) and it was set on automatic. I selected for the programme to start automatically and even manually but each time reverts to "stopped". I have no other conflicting virus software on my PC. MSE worked for a few months but this is the second time this has happened - the last time it happened I had to uninstall and reinstall. . Not sure I can trust it. I feel that someone is manipulating my laptop! everytime I turn it on the "Microsoft security proteccion" symbol is red, so I go in and see that "real time proteccion is off!!!
