Hi I am wondering under the history item there are three boxes to check the first two are the ones I am wondering about 1. all detected items 2. quarantined item only when I downloaded microsoft security ess. it had the first one checked . does that mean they detected them and removed them ? This problem has happened previously. I sent a very small email (prayer request) to numerous individuals from my address book. They did not go through and were sent back as undelieverable from the system administrator. Why is this happening. Original Title: We can't get the updates to load on my mom's computer! I downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials without much of a problem to my mother's Compaq computer which runs on Vista, I believe, (unless it's XP)and she also has dial-up AOL service. After it was loaded, I was told that updates were needed and the Internet needed to remain on in order to do so. The program has yet to complete loading any updates and freezes up about half way through, or we get a message saying that the computer needs to be running the Internet which it already is. After installing Microsoft Security Essentials (Version: 2.1.1116.0) the CD/DVD driver is shown in the Device Manager with a yellow dot/asterisk. The drive / drive letter is not shown in the My Computer window. I have gone into the Device Manager and uninstalled the driver and run Scan for Hardware Changes. This resolved the problem in my desk top but several attempts in my lap top (some that included restarts) failed. The desk top is running XPPro and the lap top is running XP Media Center Edition. Hi, I'm using a laptop (HP EliteBook 8560p with ATI gfx) at work with windows 7 enterprise (32bit). I used this in the past with a beamer and had no problem extending my desktop so that I can have one program open on the beamer and another one on my laptop screen to take notes of meetings. However recently I have gotten myself also a second monitor connected to the docking station and then the problems started. Since then I can't extend my desktop anymore to a second monitor or beamer. When I pick the extend option it reverts automaticly to duplex mode. With the newer beamers here at work there isn't a problem as they can handle the same resolution as my laptopscreen. …

I am getting a bootmrg is compressed in a clean install of windows 7 ultimate on a hpxw8400 media composer editing computer. I have read the posts and tried booting from the cd drive and then did repair but it still did not work. Any ideas on how to fix this. I recently upgraded my comp to a new motherboard, and reinstalled windows 7 on my hardrive. I am having issues with internet explored connecting to some websites I use frequntly. I even upgraded to ie( in hopes that it would fix. but didn't. I tried looking for answers on forums, turned off tracking protection, enables active controls, still noe luck. everytime I run suggested diagnostic it comes up with no problems. I am still able to access the websites from another comp, even able to access them through Firefox which I tried just to test if I could. I have configured an OS, added software and tasklists and everything is fine there.
