This morning my free trial of office 2010 ran out, so I attempted to uninstall it - instead of uninstalling, it began the process and then simply restarted my computer. Later when I tried to uninstall again using the Microsoft FixIt, I got the error that my system doesn't support the language used by the uninstaller, and was forcibly restarted. After trying to use Revo Uninstaller, I got the error message that Microsoft Outlook couldn't do something about an 'MIU' and I don't even know what that means. Then, of course, my computer restarted. Each time I attempt to touch office 2010, or run a system scan, and sometimes with no prompting at all, my computer restarts. Th…

Folders in my memory stick turned into shortcuts and when i try to open them, the following message comes up: the item yuterx.exe that this shortcut refers to has been moved or changed. I scanned the memory stick with microsoft essentials and malwarebytes. Both say that the memory stick is clean. What can I do. Continue reading...

I added memory to my PC (4GB expanded to 8GB). I have used MS Security essentials with no issues for a very long time. After adding memory the MS Antimalware services has started failing. No other program has any issues and the HW diagnostics tests the memory with no errors. I removed the memory and no more issues with MS Antimalware service or MS Security essentials. I use Windows 7 home 64-bit. Continue reading...

Hello, I am a Mother trying to help her daughter with her laptop that she uses for college. She had downloaded and used AVG trial software until it expired and then her computer started acting up. I am not very technologically savvy but we have finally gotten the AVG off using their own erasing method and it took a while. I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials on advice of a good friend and ran a complete scan. The three threats Exploit:Java/CVE-2010-08-0840-DR and DZ and Trojan:win32/FakeSysdef were found. I pressed clean and the alet promps that came up was:that Essentials couldn't do it and suggested help. The Error code on the alert prompt was 0x8050100…

We are migrating from windows XP to Windows 7. We're using mandatory profiles. The problem i have is when installing a few printers on a windows 7 client, i have no issues prior to a reboot. After a reboot, if i want to change the default printer i get the following error: I still can print, but can not change the default printer. The problem is solved when i restart the print spool service.. So it looks like when logging on, the mandatory profile loads overwriting something in the registry, i think.. We us RES Workspace Manager to capture usersettings. So after loading the mandatory profile the user settings are applied. The printer registry setting we capture for …

Hi, Wasn't sure where else to put this, and I am using Windows XP SP3, so here we go... Can anyone tell me the advantages of splitting up the OS and Program files into separate partitions? If I put Windows XP and Program Files on separate partitions, and I have to re-install Windows XP on its partition down the road for some reason, would I also have to re-install some or all programs on the Program Files partition as well? No matter what partition or disk you place Program Files on, some programs seem to be automatically connected to the OS partition and become dependent on it. So if you re-installed the OS, would it not delete critical files fo some program…
