Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 using a partitioned HD
by Guest svbandanaman- 0 replies
I'm planning on upgrading my Windows XP computer to Windows 7. Reading the tutorials on how to do this, I see the preferred method is to use the Windows Easy Transfer software. However, when using this it says that I must transfer settings/files to an external location. My question is: My XP computer HD has two partitions, one XP plus and one for media, picture files etc. Is it possible to transfer the computer's settings/files to the second partition on my HD without having to use an external source? Need help on how to rotate monitor(orientation of display)??
by Guest no1_vern- 0 replies
Before installing the SP3, I had my Dell 2005FPW monitor rotated 90 degrees to that it was oriented up and down (easier reading). After installing SP3 RC, I found out that the orientation of my monitor had reverted to the 0 degrees aspect. I have removed and reinstalled the ATI Catalyst Control Center(CCC) monitor suite, updated the driver, and then removed and updated both a second time in an attempt to correct this problem. I cannot change it back to the 90 degrees aspect I want. When I go into the Ati CCC, I can hear the hard drives read/write but display will not change. My configuration is: Ati x800-XT/256m, Dell 2005FPW (Digital) Dell XPS 3.46 pentium, …

I have the same problem with two computers. One is Sony desktop VGC-LT15E, the other is Dell laptop XPS M1530. I just upgraded both to windows 7 home premium. After installation, sleep option was grey, I was not able to click on it, to use it in order to put my computer to sleep. I downloaded chipsets for both ( from sony and dell website). Now sleep mode option is available. But when I leave computers in sleep mode for a while and I want to use them it turns out that they just shutdown by itself.Does anyone have the same problem, what do I need to install or unistall? I really appreciate any tips and help. Joanna Continue reading...

I hope IE10 doesn't have the 31 css files limit!
by Guest abdu- 0 replies

The 31 css file limit started to bite me. This happens because I am using third party controls which inject theire own css files. I am surprised this limit still exists in IE9! Other browsers don't have this limit. I am hoping the IE team come to their senses and have increased this limit in IE10. Continue reading...

... until after shutdown. Every morning, I get the Startup Repair window on a newly installed (Home Premium purchased) Windows 7 64bit system (6GB RAM, Gigabyte MA78GPM-DS2H, AMD Phenom X3). At some point a day or two after the initial install (maybe after updates, not sure), it started coming up with a blue screen (stop 0x0000001A) on first poweron, however it works quite normally after a restart at anytime after that point (although I have only tried brief power-off states, 30 seconds or less). I installed so many items during that time to make it useful (chipset drivers, Anti-virus, backup, etc.) it is hard to tell which may have been at fault, and I'm trying to a…

Bluetooth Driver Update for Windows Mobile 6.1
by Guest João Nelson- 0 replies
I have worked with 2 mobile devices (Honeywell Dolphin 9900 using Windows Mobile 6.1 and Pidion BM170 using Windows mobile 6,5). My company produces bluetooth devices wich authentication pin may be 8 or 10 char length. When we try to pair the Honeywell to our devices with 8 char pin, we succeed. But the same device set to a pin of 10 char length, it fails. Using the Pidion device (WM6.5), there is no problem connecting to the both device (pin of 10 and 8 chars long) Is there any driver or system update that expand the 8 chars long for pairing in WM6.1 ? Deploy Office 2010 via GPO Startup Script
by Guest Billy_c- 0 replies

I'm attempting to deploy Microsoft office 2010 to about 90 computers via a GPO startup scripts. I've tested it in a small test environement with about 10 computers. The script works and the setup launces on each PC, but it will only install on the very first PC that boots up. For instance, I reboot 5 PC's and when it gets to the login screen I see all 5 PC's flash the office setup page for a brief second then disappear. When I come back about an hour later the only PC that has office 2010 on it is the very first PC that started up out of the 5. All the office source files are located on a network drive that everyone has access to. Its almost like only one instance o…
