I have Dell desktop. Originally shipped with Win Vista Home. Dell sent me an upgrade disk which only works on the Dell, and I upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium. Since then, I purchased a full retail Win 7 Pro which I have not yet used on any computer. My question is this: can I put the Win 7 Pro disk in the Dell and upgrade to Pro, but use the key that Dell provided for the Win 7 Home Premium? If so, I would not forfeit the OEM key and can still use the Win 7 Pro (unused disk) on my laptop. Otherwise, I would use up the new key just to upgrade from Home Vista to Pro and then have to purchase a new OS for the laptop. Continue reading...

I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Version. I had no problem downloading. However, every time I turn my computer on the icon changes from green to a brownish red color and states that my computer is Potentially Unprotected. I came into this sight one day last week, and I noticed someone else was having a similar issue. I seen that it was said to go into the CCleaner and under applications uncheck microsoft antimalware and microsoft control panel. I did so. But that has not changed anything. What else can I do? Hi I have been having on issue where IE just shuts down. The other issue is that i also keep getting an error that the internet is disconnected when it isn't To resolve this I have 1. run a full scan with no issues returned 2. I have checked and found to Windows Defender is turned off. HI, I am trying to import favorites from Chrome. I do fine until I get to the "Import settings window".The default file name came up as: C:\Documents and Settings\Main\My Documents\bookmark.htm When I hit "next", I got the message window: "please enter a valid file name". I went to my desktop where the required Chrome HMTL doc is stored, opened it, copied the url address, went back to the import settings window, and pasted: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Main/Desktop/bookmarks_2_21_12.html. Since gpedit.msc is missing in Home Premium, this is probably going to involve a registry edit. However, the old key apparently doesn't work anymore. Can anyone tell me how to completely disable/remove the Windows Anytime Upgrade option/ability from a Windows 7 Home Premium install? Something got changed or corrupted in windows explorer xp sp3. The usb flash drive will not come up in win exporer. Now in the device mgr it is listed along with (safely remove hardware). When I use the dos promt, I can see it as (E:). The flash drive works in other computers. When I plug it in I used to get a screen (what do you want to open with).
