Hi, I am having difficulty in installing windows update for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 & 3.5 SP1 on Windows Server 2003 & Windows XP x86 (kb 2518864). Every time I run "install" to install it on my machine XP Pro SP3 and it came back "failed" with the message "Setup cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatible with a previously installed one.". What I currently have on my machine are 1. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 2. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 3. Hi, I have created a custom.wim and trying to deploy using USB. I have set my settings both in unattend.Xml and custom Settings.ini and works perfectly well except for computer name. I'm trying to get user to set a computer name and the setting in custumSettings.ini I set was "SkipComputername=NO" and the user enters the computer name but after the deployment is finished it generates a random computer name. Just struggling to understand why? Any help will be very helpfull. My IBM T42 running Windows XP Pro, with Security Essentials has been over run with "Smart Protection 2012" while opening an email from a trusted source. I am presently on another lap top as the IBM is barely functional. Attempted running Security Essentials, yet this virus shut it down and rendered by computer helpless. Hi I finally gave in and installed Win 7 on my HTPC. Everything went except that Win 7 couldn't find my Sil 3114 raid5. After having tried several different drivers I gave up and installed XP again. Now XP cant find it either! The SIL software says that 1 drive is orphaned, but the 3 remaining ones are parity raided, which makes me believe that they are still intact. At the boot stage the card has all 4 drives in a raid5 configuration. In the SI software menu there's a possibility to delete the orphaned drive Should I do it? The options to rebuild and bring on-line are not available. If I delete the orphaned drive, rebuild, would I then be able to bring the rebuilt …

I need to install XP onto an Eee Pc 1000h. I don't have an external cd/dvd or an external floppy. I've got the drive I need attached to my laptop using a usb-sata adapter. Hello, My family just acquired my grandfather's HP Pavilion a342n desktop after his passing. The computer apparently had a virus on it last year and Windows had to be reinstalled on it. This would be awesome, however, the person who reinstalled Windows on the computer (supposedly friend of my grandfather's) installed a copy of Windows XP Professional and the license key has apparently expired or isn't valid. Is there a way to get a new license key for this copy of Windows? As far as I'm aware, there are no system disks with the computer anymore. I volunteer at a retirement community helping with personal computers and have installed MSE on maybe 30 computers for the residents there. One resident, who admittedly does surf the web a lot, Has been bitten twince in two weeks by rogue anti-malware viruses. He has a Dell B110 desktop running XP sp3 and MSE. He first got a Malware called Smart Anti Malware Protection two weeks ago, even though MWE was up to date and scanning weekly. Have a new Windows 7 computer with IE 9 and copied my Favorites folder to my new c:\Users\name\Favorites All is good but then organized my Favorites by consolidating them into folders. Now when you click Favorites, Add To Favorities, next to Create In click the pull down it lists the whole folder structure when you first copied the Favorites vs. how it is organized now? I decided to remove all the Favorites and when you click Favorites, Add To Favorites, it still shows all the Favorites from the initial copy into the Favorites folder.
