Windows Xp 64bit splwow64 issue (Thunking Spooler crash)
by Guest Mogwuy- 0 replies

Hello, For the last month and half I have been stumped with an error that has been occuring with only our users running Windows XP Professional 64bit. The issues is every once an awhile, while they are printing from excel or any ms office application or Adobe an error pops up saying that the Thunking Spooler APIS from 32 to 64 process has stopped working. To correct this I have done following: Re-adding the printers Restarting the spooler Set the application to compatibility mode with an older version of windows Add new printers and set to "Print directly to printer" option (this started causing more problems, so I set it back to spool first) Also a user pointed ou…

Windows 7 Calculator
by Guest Techy9801- 0 replies

I work for a college and we are deploying Windows 7 on the majority of the PCs. One of the labs is an assessment lab that students take tests on. We need a way to remove the calculator application so that the students do not have use of it. Ideally, it needs to be completely taken off, so that a student with knowledge of the system32 folder can't access it. We currently have WinXP in the lab and the calculator removal process has been documented, but not for Windows 7. I unfortunately get access restrictions when trying to delete it directly from the system32 folder. What is the procedure for uninstalling and removing the Windows 7 Calculator? Thanks! Continue r…

by Guest Paul Thurrott- 0 replies

By Paul Thurrott Cisco announced this week that it would appeal a months-old European Union approval of Microsoft’s $8.5 billion purchase of Skype. The firm isn’t trying to overturn the deal, but is rather asking EU antitrust regulators to place conditions on the purchase that would require Microsoft to make Skype interoperable with other video communications systems. appcrash: Vista/IE9
by Guest jennsvs- 0 replies

About a week ago, I updated my computer. I went onto a website and got the message below. When I go to most websites, it gives me this error, then restarts. I followed the instructions here.... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ieitprocurrentver/thread/277b438e-6891-40d3-b1be-10444373c185 ... but that didn't help. I have searched and searched to get this fixed, but nothing has worked. I have scanned my computer with a few different scanners, but nothing is detected. My son is needing to use this computer for school next week and I would love to be able to fix it before that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also would like to request that …

I'm running OMPM 2010 and have been told that sharepoint is currently being used. I have been told that sharepoint is setup so that the documents are embedded in an SQL database instead of the typical file share setup. Is it possible to use OMPM to scan the SQL database to retrieve the data it needs? Thanks Glen Continue reading...

Windows Mobile 6.5 ActiveSync doesn't work after certificate update
by Guest jrstewart- 0 replies
I have an HTC Touch 2 that was previously configured for Exchange Activesync and was working properly until I had to update the certificate on the Exchange server and the phone. The error I get on the phone is support code 0x80072F17. From my research, this error means that my certificate is not trusted and I need to install my root cert on the phone. I did this and it still doesn't work. Per some other forums, I rebuilt the ActiveSync Virtual Directory to no avail. I also use the Microsoft Testexchangeconnectivity website and the ACtiveSync test passes. Right now I'm at a loss. This same certificate is working fine on a bunch of iPhones, it's just this lone Windows Mobil…

Week ago started having flickers with display notifications, on and off then frozen. Dowloaded and tried several root kit removal software - two of which identified the bad file but after removing the fille shows up again after re-boot. The path from the Norton Eraser is as follows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\rikvm_9EC60124.sys Also you cannot manually or otherwise locate the file for manual extermination Would be very appreciative for any help or resolution to this extremely annoying and perhaps dangerous problem file. Windows 7 does not boot from first restart during clean install
by Guest DSTong- 0 replies

I have had the exact same result with Win7 final RC as well as Win7 Ultimate install attempts. The hardware is brand new Asus 785 Chipset mother board (Kit from AMD/Microsoft Seminar with Win 7 Ultimate NFR) with AMD Phenom II x4. I've got Win XP 64bit running just fine on this system using another HD as a test of the entire system. Only a single hard drive is connected during the testing and install. DVD boots up fine and begins to intall Win 7 64bit. Then when it attempts very first re-boot during the installation it hangs. I've swapped out hard drives -with no change in outcome. There is no question that the motherboard, RAM, DVD drive etc. are all working fin…
