I have had many problems with Internet Exployer 9 since buying my new lap top computer. I am contantly being told that the are still working out the kinks so I have tried to be patient. Within the last half hour, I received the following message four times in a row...........something like, Internet Exployer has experienced a problem and is shutting down and will reopen in a new page. It is very frustrating and I just feel that there is nothing that I can do except to keep experiencing all the problems or to change to something else. Can anyone tell me what is going on, what to do and how long before the kinks will be worked out? Thanks. Continue reading...

I recently upgraded to windows XP SP3 to use microsoft outlook 2010. The installation seemed to go fine or at least it completed and rebooted my computer. Now every time I try to print something no matter what program I'm running word, excel, autocad it takes several minutes for the printer popup and then when I select a printer again it takes several minutes to recognize the selection, but then it prints. Today I had a system lock up and the error message was SAS window: winlogon.exe corrupt file. Upon rebooting the computer it ran a check disk and fixed a couple of errors, but still the same printing problem? Any ideas why? Thanks Continue reading...

Why would my Windows Firewall recognize that I'm using McAfee Internet Security from my ISP, but the Essential Virus Protection doesn't see that the same software provides my virus protection? I am using an XP Professional SP3+ system with microsoft update patching current up to about two weeks ago, when I shut off Automatic Updates while addressing some application compatabilty issues and perform general maintenance on my system. I'll turn it back on later. The Windows firewall recognizes and seems to be very cooperative with my McAfee Internet Security firewall, so I leave the windows firewall turned. It took the firewall two months before it finally recognized th…

Good day ~ I want to ask a very important question. Like, if I were to switch from a preinstalled 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate to a 64 bit version would I need to change any of the hardware? Would any of the hardware be incompatible since it came presintalled 32 bit? Or is it just that if all the hardware than I have, have drivers that support both 32 and 64 bit then I would be fine? If not, is that all I need to do is have a clean install of the 64 bit version of Win7 Ultimate and it would be fine? Continue reading...

I have Windows 7 Professional on my PC. In the first load I had, the PC should automatically detect if the LAN cable was plugged in, turn off the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable was now in use. Unfortunately, I had to reload my PC, and since then I can't get it to do it again. So, what I'd like to achieve is this: Have Windows automatically detect when the cable is plugged in, turn of the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable is in use - and, obviously, vice versa. Can someone tell me what I need to do, please? Continue reading...

Had to reinstall XP from the disc. Naturally SP2 and SP3, and all the other updates were erased. Now I can't find an individual user version of SP2 to download. The Microsoft Update page directs me to a network installation version of SP2, which indicates it's a large file for technicians who need to do multiple installations, and I should go to the Microsoft Update page for the individual user's version. But of course I can't get access to the Microsoft Update page any more until I've reinstalled SP3, which I can't do until I've reinstalled SP2. Any help would be appreciated. Continue reading...

I am preparing Office 2007 packages to deploy to a client of approx 1200 seats via SMS 2003. About 5% of the target machines have 2007 installed already. I am looking to uninstall Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook off these machines (I.E. not uninstall other apps such as Access, InfoPath, Publisher, Visio Viewer, etc...) and reinstall with the standard set of install bits. With the Office 2007 OCT I can uninstall individual components that are prior to Office 2007 but not at 2007. I have been looking to accomplish this by leveraging the setup.exe in the MSOCache directory and then creating a config.xml file to point at that names the target Office suite. In the config.xml th…

I am having a weird problem. On TNT.TV you are supposed to be able to watch past episodes of their programs. Once you are on the site, you select full episodes, the show and then a listing of them appears. It tells you that you need to unlock the page in order to watch. You select the key and a pop up comes up asking for you to select your carrier. Once you do this, IE is supposed to take you to your carrier's website where you can log in and then you go immediately back to TNT and the shows are now open. I have the very same version software on my tower and two different laptops in the house. I can get this all to work on the laptops, but not on the tower. I even…

I was doing an upgrade from Windows XP PRO to Windows 7 Professional. I have all of my serial numbers. During the install it was corrupted and I had to do a repair of the Windows 7 Professional Install. When I try to activate the software it tells me the software version I have isn't for a clean install and is for an upgrade only. I downloaded the upgrade software from Microsoft's store, so I assume I have a legal copy. I have 14 days to activate the software. I already bought another version for my other computer, since they told me that Windows Professional wouldn't work on it for an upgrade from XP home. Continue reading...

I'm having terrible CPU spike issues with my USB sound card and KB981214 looks like it may be the answer. I've downloaded the correct patch and tried to install but always get the error - "The update is not applicable to your computer". Its definitely the right patch though. So - (1) is this already installed? It's not listed as installed but it is a 2010 patch - how can I tell if this has now been deployed through another fix or servcie pack? and (2) if it's still a stand alone fix, how can I get the damned thing to install? Thanks! Continue reading...
