Severity Rating: Critical Revision Note: V1.0 (February 14, 2012): Bulletin published. Summary: This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability and a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The more severe of these vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user visits a website containing specially crafted content or if a specially crafted application is run locally. An attacker would have no way to force users to visit a malicious website. Instead, an attacker would have to convince users to visit the website, typically by getting them to click a link in an email message or Instant Messenger message that takes them to the at…

Why does MsMpEng.exe take 46 seconds to scan one particular single web page?
by Guest DonniDave- 0 replies

One and only one web page (reputable site) takes 46 seconds to load with high MsMpEng.exe CPU hog of (around) 51%. This one web page has been tried in IE9, FF10, Chrome17. This only appears to occur on one web site. Running Vista Home Premium (everything auto updates to latest) on Dell Inspiron 1545 3GB RAM. Copied the source file into a text file and saved and closed it then tried to reopen it. MsMpEng.exe scanned it and the LOG file indicated it was an "Expensive file". The LOG file extract shows: !WARNING Expensive file File Name:C:\Users\Dave\Desktop\camping_and_caravanning_club_home.txt->(SCRIPT0004) File Size:400278 Time:41371 Container:No Metric:CPU CRC…

We want all users to be able to experience Windows 8 Metro style apps on their desktops, laptops, or the new touch-capable devices. This includes people with disabilities who rely on assistive technologies to use the PC. About 15% of the world's population has a disability1. In the United States alone, 49.6 million people have a disability2 and 45 million in Europe3. When it comes to interacting with computers, these disabilities affect individuals in a number of ways: Visual impairments include color vision deficiency, low-vision and blindness – all of which may impact the individual’s ability to see content displayed on the screen. Mobility impairments include arth…

innerHTML ignoring DOM Changes - IE9 Standards Mode
by Guest ccaveney- 0 replies
Hello, just want to make sure that the right folks are seeing this problem I found in IE9. I posted this on social.msdn.microsoft.com as well. In a nutshell, the innerHTML property doesn't seem to be updating when changes occur to the DOM. Below is a succinct code example that demonstrates the problem. To reproduce the problem, enter a value into the input element, then click on the button. This problem occurs in IE9 Standards Mode, but not in IE8 Standards mode. My production workaround is to set my page content type to IE8 via a META tag. Untitled Page function addRow() { var myDiv = document.getElementById("myDiv") var th…

Windows 7 SP1 (x64) Fails to Download (Error Code: 0x800F081F)
by Guest Aenimeus- 0 replies
Hello, I have been having trouble downloading Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The download stops at 24% before failing completely, resulting with the errorcode 0x800F081F. I have tried getting it through Windows Update as well as the standalone installer. I downloaded the System Update Readiness Tool, but it didn't show up with any problems I don't think (it's supposed to run automatically, but no new error messages came up or anything after I installed the Readiness Tool and tried to download the SP1 again). I have run the "SFC /scannow" command prompt, which gave no error messages. I have also download the Microsoft Fix It tool, which did detetct problems …

Going from 64 bit to 32 bit MS Office 2010
by Guest TP2424- 0 replies

I bought a laptop and product key for MS Office. It is the 64 bit version, but I need the 32 bit verson as many of my programs that use DDE links and active X do not run on 64 bit version of Excel. I have a disc and have tried to uninstall and re-install but I do not get an option for 32 bit version. I tried to download from here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/netbook-FX101850729.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA101828496 but I get message that my product key is not supported. Is there an alternative way to go from 64 bit version to 32 bit version? Continue reading...

Came home from a trip and found that internet explorer will no longer load. Box says "windows checking for a solution to the problem" but never dissapears. Tried to reload exp9 and it says can not do so due to a newer version already installed. Tried to delete int exp9 in order to reload and says unable as I do not have permission. Tried to change permission but unable to change any settings. Right now I can only use google chrome. This all happened after somehow chrome was changed to my default browser. Changed it back to Int exp and it will not load. No help found so far. Suggestions? I have scanned using the latest Kaspersky and found nothing. I have Windows 7 64bit…

From time to time when I view my java applet in Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) There will be a white border( on the bottom and on the right) of the java applet. I don't want this to happen. I've set the width and height variables of my applet on the page but I cannot figure out why this white space appears at random times. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a solution to this?
